There's way too much to factor in. Players health, if Jackson sticks around, how players develop (on the lakers and in the rest of the league), what moves other teams make...

That being said. They've got a very good team now with a good shot at winning a title this year, and if they can keep the core together, they'll have a very good team for a while.

    What a silly thread.

You need to win one before anything, and you're foolish if you start talking dynasty before you win a couple. There's waaaaaay too much that goes into creating a dynasty to accurately predict one before it happens. Sure Kobe will only be 30 at the start of next season, but it will be his 13 season as a pro. That's a lot of wear on a player, particularly one who plays like Kobe does. He may be in his prime right now, but he's on the back end of it in my opinion. Bynum is a massive player who has a knee injury, which eliminates him from being a sure thing. Gasol is in his seventh season and has reached has missed over ten games in three of them.

Sure, you have a nice thing going, but win a couple before the dynasty talk starts. The best big man, the best point guard, and the best player (that's LeBron) are not on your team. I'd be more worried about the Spurs or Chris Paul than the championships that you may or may not win.

Lol you might be the only <strike>moron</strike> left who thinks LeBron > Kobe. How can you justify that argument when LeBron has admitted through numerous interviews that Kobe is the best player in the league.

Are you guys <strike>idiots</strike> with selective reading? Did you not see the "NOT GET AHEAD OF OURSELVES" and then the question...no one is getting ahead of themselves here. It's hypothetical thread...with a <strike>fuckin' idiot </strike>who thinks LeBron > Kobe.

Kobe over Lebron isn't as clear cut as you seem to think it is. Obviously some people are going to think Lebron is better because of his stats, and carrying his team(which Kobe did too) or just overall preference for Lebrons game over Kobes

With that said I am a huge Kobe fan and agree with you that Kobe is the better player, but to call someone a "f'in" idiot over thinking Lebron is better isn't the best choice of words.

Anyone who says Lebron is better than Kobe at this point of their careers are either homers or they have not seen Kobe play

These statements are coming from Lakers fans so I wouldn't make a claim about homerism since Kobe is on your team.

Some people prefer certain playing styles. Both are great players. It's not horribly out of the question for someone to prefer Lebron.

Honestly Boston is old, Detroit is old, San Antonio is old...that leaves us to take the reigns as the next big thing. In the next 10 years...can we win 6 rings?</div>

In my HONEST opinion... The result of this years playoffs would influence our 'dynasty' chances... WHY?

IF we win this year then our players would be confident next year especially when bynum returns and would be playing with MINIMUM pressure during the whole regular season and would turn it up in the playoffs...

IF we do not win it this year then ALL the pressure would be directed towards us since we have a star studded lineup of Kobe Pau Odom Bynum etc etc...
everyone would expect us to go all the way next year saying we're gonna go all out with a vengeance or what not but i believe this would be more of a burden.

I sure do hope we win it this year though!

Kobe's shown this year that he can carry his team when he needs to and doesn't have to subjugate himself. LeBron was having a better season this year because of how he plays in the East, and was empirically surpassed in the post-season. LeBron killed it with that all-time horrific stretch and when he took so long to warm up against the Celtics, whereas Kobe impressed me even when he hurt his back. Kobe's stats in the regular season remind me of how the Big Three in Boston were having statistically below-average years (for them) even though they were winning (goes back to the issue of subjugation).

Paul is going to be around for a long time, there is no guarantee that he'll get much better statistically though. However, I would expect similar seasons of the same kind of production.

I don't think this thread is such a great idea, but understand the perspective.

lets face it though, Kobe playing awesome, and now, maybe most importantly, Mitch has made a significant move to help the team and now Kobe has confidence in Mitch in most moves he'll make from here on out, they have a very good chance to win a few, barring any injury
