alright so we've had some fun with this draft and everyone's been really active.

well I found something recently that will change this draft and where it's going.

so "Just when you thought you had the answers! I changed the questions!" <--Rowdy Roddy Pipper [IMG]

So I found this site that does Fantasy MMA leagues.
one type is a pick'em (we'll stick with our IMO), one is a salary cap type (would like to try it if others are up for it) and one is a fantasy draft!

So what I'm proposing is we enter the teams we have drafted now into the fantasy draft to see how well it works.
Since we didn't know we'd be doing this, what I'm proposing is we finish the draft after round 17. I'll create a league that is 15 deep and everyone can drop any 2 fighters from their roster and I'll enter the 15 fighters you want to go in.
want to read up on it some more?
    http://www.topgunmma.com/ufcwar/createpool.php?sid=

if we really like it, we can always try a live draft later on in the year [IMG]

The other option is to finish up this draft and go 22 rounds, allowing everyone to drop 2 fighters from their final roster so too.
Another option is to start from scratch on that site and do the draft live one afternoon... of course that's always rough because it's hard to get everyone on at the same time.

let me know what you think about these ideas.

    the rules and FAQ's

    Rules

    General (Salary Pool)
 You are the owner of a camp of fighters that you draft.
 All camps are subject to the same salary cap. Everyone has $1,000,000 to spend however they please.
 Camps bid on fighters at the draft to put together their starting roster
 Once a camp wins the services of a fighter, he is placed on a 3-fight contract.
 Once the 3 fights are done, they are now free agents and can be pursued by any team.
 The season starts immediately after the draft. It lasts for 1 year. The camp with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner.

    General (Fantasy Draft)
 You are the owner of a camp of fighters that you draft.
 Camps participate in a live draft to fill out their roster.
 The season starts immediately after the draft. It lasts for 1 year. The camp with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner.

    Point System
 Fights are scored depending on where they fought during an event, starting at 1. The closer they are to the main event, the higher the number the fight is worth.
 Points are only scored for a win.
 You can set other organizations to be a ratio of this. For example: If TUF cards are set to 50%, then they will only receive half the points. This makes sense since the card is not as significant.
 Points can be determined for how many, if any, a fighter will receive for taking over or defending a Championship belt.
 Additional points can be awarded for TKO/KO or Submission victories if you desire.
 Points are calculated over 1 year, and the roster with the most points wins.

    Free Agents (Salary Pool only)
 During the season any fighter can be bid on or dropped.
 Once a Camp decides they would like to bid for the services of a fighter not currently in the league, he is posted on the auction block. The Commish will decide how long Owners have to post a bid. We recommend a minimum of 3 days.

    FAQ

    Q: What is Fantasy MMA?
A: Fantasy MMA pits you against your to see who can put together the best camp of fighters. First, you set the rules of how points will be awarded. You can adjust these to include all organizations or just your favorite. Your fighter will be awarded more points the closer he fights to a main card and these points carry over to every event. After one year, the person with the most points is declared the winner.

Q: Why should I join your fantasy MMA league over another sites?
A: Simply put, there is nothing like this on the web. This pool offers flexibility in the rules, organizations, fighters you pick and settings you play under. We have a team of hardcore fans dedicated to providing the best possible pool experience for the user.

Q: What is better, the fantasy draft or the salary pool?
A: The TGMMA staff recommends the salary pool. The live auction draft is a nice strategic start to the league, and the bidding and dropping of fighters during the season will keep you involved all year long.

Q: Is it difficult to set up my own league?
A: No. The settings are presented in a straight forward manner. You can invite anyone with an email account into the pool, set your custom rules, and once the draft is over we will manage the rest.

Q: What if I want to have a UFC only pool?
A: We offer a incredibly flexible point scoring system. You can only include one organization, or you can include eight. Not only that, but you can also adjust the worth of other organizations. For example: UFC = 100% points, DREAM = 75% points, WEC = 50% points.

Q: What if I already have a MMA pool. Can I use those rosters?
A: Absolutely. The admin of the pool is able to add any fighter he wants to the rosters from an admin screen and begin the season without a draft.

Q: The season has started, now what?
A: If you are in the salary pool it will be a constant balance of dropping fighters who you don’t need and looking to bid on fighters nobody else has. On the schedule page you can see which fighters nobody has yet and the teams that the others are on.

Q: How do I bid on a fighter once the season has started?
A: Just find the fighter you want on the stats screen and add them to the auction with an opening bid.

Q: Is there a salary cap?
A: Yes. You have a hard cap of $1,000,000. It’s up to you to spend that how you want without going over.

Q: I won the bid and now I am over the cap. What should I do?
A: You have 24 hours to get back under, after that, your highest paid fighter will be dropped.

Q: What is a good length for the season bid timer?
A: Our staff has found 3 days to be the magic number. Otherwise, members will have to follow the pool too closely to stay on top of bids and may end up losing interest. On the flip side, if it’s set too high, bids will take too long to resolve.

Q: How much will this pool cost me?
A: At this time, everything is free. So enjoy!

I'm down to move ours over there. Also interested in the salary cap if we can get that together.

I don't suppose anyone would be interested in redoing the draft under that rule structure. I honestly built my league on the idea of having an attractive card not anticipated performance.

I'm sure many people would agree they did the same thing. But I'm not sure if people are interested in going through the draft again.

Hmmm, I am down to try this. I am pretty free this summer so live draft shouldnt be a problem for me. Also I dont care whether we do another draft or transfer our teams over. Although having another draft would be cool since my knowledge of fighters have grown a bit.

how about this, we move the draft over to see how it performs, set up a salary cap league and if after several months we enjoy them, we can do another live draft? Hopefully with a couple more ppl [IMG]

so, iam still confused as to how this works, we only get points if our fighter participates in an actual MMA event and wins right? cause I am not sure who to choose to cut right now

yes, drop fighters who are not in a major org or who have not fought a lot recently.

IE whomever drafted Ricardo Arona.. who hasn't fought since Pride folded.. I'd drop him.

you want to keep active fighters.

    PM your drops ASAP
