This one is smack dab in the middle of TUF 8 so it won't be the Minotauro/Mir fight.

Its only a couple of weeks after UFC 89, just two months from now, so probably too soon for BJ Penn vs. Huerta/Florian.

The thought was to have Anderson Silva fight sooner than later but the Silva/Okami fight looks like the headliner for this event.

Matt Huges will NOT be on the card. He recently posted that his knee rehab will take 6 to 7 more months.

Looks like chicago has a co-main event now. I am going to assume they want something bigger than that to be the main event.
Still I am looking forward to this fight!

    Ohhh...

Brandon Vera has looked like shit in his last three outings. If he doesn't look good against Jardine, it could be really bad for his career with the UFC.

Go Silva! Cote will have his hands full, but he's a smart fighter.

another good fight added to UFC 90!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>SEAN SHERK TO RETURN AT UFC 90 VS TYSON GRIFFIN

Sean Sherk’s quest to regain his Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight belt begins again in Chicago.

After losing the strap to B.J. Penn at UFC 84 in May, Sherk will face off with Xtreme Couture standout Tyson Griffin at UFC 90. Both fighters have agreed to the bout, and are in the process of signing bout agreements, according to sources close to both camps.

Since his loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC 67, Griffin has been on a four-fight tear, recently defeating American Top Team’s Marcus Aurelio at UFC 86 in July.

Griffin’s camp had reportedly been wanting for the fight for quite some time, and with Sherk’s loss, everything seems to have worked out nicely.

In an interview with MMAWeekly.com this past weekend, Sherk would not confirm the fight, but spoke about his next opponent and UFC future.

“I’ve got five fights left, and I feel like I have a good strong future with the UFC,” Sherk said. “Maybe one or two wins and I’ll be back in title contention again.

“I’ve been real careful with who I’m going to fight. I don’t want to fight up-and-coming guys. You start fighting up-and-coming guys and you have to fight more guys to make your way up to the top. I want to fight the best of the best, and that’s what I’m doing with this upcoming fight.”

Griffin, still on leave from a week-long camping trip, was unavailable for comment.</div>

Looks like the New Year's show will be UFC 92 or 93.

Dana said in the press conference that it is very unlikely that it will be in Montreal (Vegas instead, IIRC). That leads me to believe that the Montreal show must be before the New Year's show, making it UFC 91, or 92 if they fit three between the end of October and the end of December.

St. Pierre vs. Penn II is expected to headline the NYE event with Nogueira/Mir being a possibility for co-main event.

By God's Good Grace Matt Horwich is coming to the UFC!!!
Been a fan of his for a while, saw him fight live and have had him as a friend on myspace. Dude is a unique character, reading his messages is always fun. Too bad he's in for a tough fight with Almeida.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Former IFL middleweight champion Matt Horwich to debut at UFC 90 vs. Ricardo Almeida
The UFC has announced that former IFL middleweight champion Matt Horwich will make his debut with the promotion at UFC 90 on Oct. 25 vs. jiu-jitsu black belt Ricardo Almeida.

Horwich, a member of Matt Lindland’s Team Quest in Portland, Ore., is 23-10-1 overall in his MMA career. He posted a 7-4 record in the IFL with notable victories over Mike Pyle, Brian Foster, and Benji Radach.

With his win over Radach this past December during the league’s World Grand Prix finals, Horwich became the IFL’s first-ever middleweight champion. However, Horwich lost the title to Ryan McGivern in his first-ever defense this past February in Las Vegas.

The 30-year old last competed during the IFL’s last-ever show on May 16 in Connecticut, where he recorded a unanimous decision victory over former training partner Joey Guel.

Horwich is the latest in a long line of former IFL fighters to enlist with the UFC, a list that includes Rory Markham, Andre Gusmao, Brad Blackburn, Jim Miller, Dan Miller, Mike Massenzio, and Reese Andy.

Horwich’s opponent, Almeida, is 9-3 overall in an MMA career that dates back to 2000. A black belt under the legendary Renzo Gracie, Almeida operates his own school in New Jersey and has an extensive background as a competitive grappler.</div>

Wanderlei Silva is expected to fight at the NYE card against one of the following: Shogun Rua, Rampage Jackson, Thiago Silva, or Lyoto Machida.

Wand vs Shogun?!?!? I thought they were teamates.. well ex-team mates now, but I don't see them fighting each other regardless.

Surprised me as well but Wandy is one guy who said he would fight anyone, so who knows. The Machida/Silva fight should be a #1 contender bout but it seems that the Liddell/Evans fight is instead, so the winner of Machida/Silva is a candidate to fight Wandy at the end of the year. I predict the UFC will give Shogun an easier opponent when he finally returns.

Rampage/Shogun II and Wandy/[Machida/Silva] seems like a possible double-bill for the NYE card as well.

GSP is quoted as saying on RDS that he's tired and wants to take a break from MMA and will not be fighting for the rest of the year.. no GSP vs BJ for New Year's or Montreal is seems.
I think Dana can convince him otherwise though [IMG]

Conceivably he can take the next month off and still have time to train hard for BJ, but GSP knows what is best for his body.

He said it wasn't the fighting that is taking it's toll, but all the training, he feels like he's had no life outside of training in the last 12 months. He needs a mental break.
