We need to do some trade consolidation...

I know Denny Crane is tired of the small G back court, but Rose's playmaking ability really does mesh well with Gordon's shooting... and I think this combo will be significantly better than Hinrich/Gordon.

    Resign Gordon.

Our G rotation becomes Rose, Gordon, Thabo. With Rose and Thabo on the court together, we have size and defense. With Rose and Gordan, we have playmaking, scoring, and shooting (well, with Gordon), and with Gordon and Thabo, we have some blend of scoring, size, and defense.

SF- Nocioni is going to be hard to move, so maybe its easier to move Deng. Carmelo has been rumored recently to be on the trading block. Perhaps Deng, Hinrich can land him? Nocioni then backs up the 3.

    PF- Gooden, Tyrus

    C- Noah, Gray.

    _______________

I guess what I am trying to build around is Rose, Gordon, and Thabo as our backcourt along with a trade. And with pieces like Hinrich, Hughes (expiring contract), Deng, and future picks, I think we can go after a legitimate 3 or 4.

    What say ye?

If you were GM would you consider trading Hinrich for Al Harrington? As a Warriors fan I would love to get a quality backup PG for Al.

The knock on Rose is that he can't shoot.

So we get rid of the one guy that can shoot and play Hinrich (can't shoot) and Thabo (can't shoot) and Hughes (can't shoot) at the 2?

The second we landed the #1 pick my initial thought was "cool" and my second thought was "bye bye ben" sadly enough.

With all the buzz around the #1 pick, especially if its Rose, the Bulls can afford (fan relations wise) to take or leave Gordon.

Given that Hinrich and Hughes are average to bad and signed to fat, untradeable deals, this does not look good.

OTOH, Beasley likely will fill a need unless we're going to resign Gooden to a larger deal.

This is a tough call. Rose could be Damon, JWill or perhaps he's Paul.

Beasley could be Melo or Chris Bosh. Great players, but not NBA Title leading superstars.

It would be a shame if drafting Rose means buh bye Gordon. But, given the bad contracts that Paxson has on the roster (Hinrich, Hughes) this might be the way it goes down. Thanks Pax.

The bulls have a desperate need for a guy to come in and be so good you have to play him. If it's Rose, it's not a bad thing.

Looking at the two choices, it seems like maybe a choice between JWill and Brand [IMG]

If we draft Rose, I think we might have to trade both Ben and Kirk. I know Ben shoots well, but he seems to like to handle the ball too much to play with Rose. How big of an issue is that? Ben is too good to just sit in the corner and shoot 3's, but Rose is better than he is. I'm not as down on Kirk as everyone else is. I think he'll play better this year now that he's more accustomed to playing at a larger weight, and he's got the newly-wed jitters out of him (remember what that did to Chandler?), and every year up until now his production was trending upward consistently. And since his salary is frontloaded, I don't think his contract is a huge problem either. That said, I still think it'd be better to get a more traditional two guard to play with Rose, and it seems like the best way to get him would be to have Hinrich as part of the deal.

Would the Nets do Ben and Kirk for Vince Carter and Sean Williams or Josh Boone? Would we?

    Rose
    Carter
    Deng
    Gooden
    Noah

Backed up by Thabo, Hughes, Noc, Tyrus and Gray.

Rose is the correct pick and its not even close. Keeping Hinrich and Gordon might be the best situation for Rose because he can spend a season developing his game as the backup and adjusting to the NBA. Rushing him into the starting job might set his level of confidence back and the pressure of being "that guy" to come in and lead the Bulls back to winning straight away never seems to work out for teams.

Rose will take pressure off Gordon, so Gordon might finally get open shots. The only way I don't see the backcourt working is if Rose is a bust.

The key to trading Hinrich is to have Hughes go out with him, and as I pointed out, Miami/Portland are the two main players.

Miami: Hinrich and Hughes for Marion and Banks

Portland: Hinrich and Hughes for Jack, Pryzbilla, and Lafrentz.

The Portland one actually can be done on draft day, even with Hinrich's BYC.

Portland would want no part of Larry Hughes, unless Bulls take back Darius Miles.

Blazers would probably do that trade. They like Hinrich. They have a rich owner, who will be willing to take on Hughes contract (which is only one extra year longer than Lafrentz's) to get Hinrich, who the Blazers pursued before.

I would have no objections with substituting Miles for Lafrentz in this trade, as Miles is the type of return we are looking for on Hughes (a guy of equal length contract that isn't expecting to play). But the Blazers cut him in April, so it has to be Lafrentz.

The Blazers cut Miles? I was not aware of this news. Good riddance.

I still can't see Portland wanting any part of Larry Hughes on their roster. They've gone away from trouble makers and "me-first" players and are building their franchise through the draft. Eventually they will need to have the cap flexibility to keep their young core intact.

They're also high on Sergio Rodriguez to eventually emerge as the starting PG.

Maybe they'd just buy out Hughes, similar to what they did with Francis.

Which would make even less sense for the Blazers.
