I'm looking at limited number of assists Beasley (1.2/game) racked up last year. It is similar to Durant and Bosh and Tyrus Thomas (although per min TT is better). Significantly below Carmelo (2.2/game). I watched a lot more Durant than Beasley and I think Durant was fine in the area as a prospect. Durant's ratio last year was not bad (2.3 to 2.9 A/TO)

If you want to differentiate between Beas, Melo, Durant, Bosh, and Tyrus using assists, then you already failed.

It doesn't look like it's your style, but enlighten me, my man. [IMG] I fully admit I didn't see much Beasely in College.

Why would passing factor into your assessment of power forwards at the next level? the difference is so miniscule it means nothing, when you're dealing with the difference from 2.2 to 1.2. Either way you're drafting this guy to score and rebound, not for an extra assist from 1 to 2 assists.

I odn't know if it's your style, but try to understand me.

Hopefully Yinka Dare doesn't beat him in assists.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>At a practice here in Fitchburg last month, Barton gathered his players to give them a scouting report on an upcoming opponent. In less than 24 hours, the team played one of its most important games of the season. Barton stood still, with a basketball under his right arm, and talked quietly. "Pay attention, 'cause this is important," Barton said. His players leaned in to listen. Then Beasley started shouting.

"Hey coach, pass the ball!" Beasley yelled. "Come on, coach. You're being a ball hog, yo. Pass it. I'm open."

Teammates laughed, and Barton shook his head. Over the last six months, Barton had decided mainly to ignore Beasley's childishness. He finished his scouting report and divided his players into two teams for a shirts-against-skins scrimmage. As Beasley pulled off his cotton T-shirt to play for the skins, he danced across the court.

"I'm naked! I'm naked!" Beasley yelled. "Look, coach. I'm naked!"</div>

Lots more on Beasley's attitude & behavior in the article.....not good....I really can't see Paxson going this way.
    </div>

Wow. I've never seen that article before, and after reading it, I wouldn't want Beasley anywhere near my team. He's immature, annoying, and doesn't know when to be serious.

Here's the rest of the article: http://kfba.net/cs/forums/t/6959.aspx

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Beasley said nobody gave him an exact reason for his dismissal, but he guesses that Oak Hill grew tired of his pranks. He wore pajamas to the school cafeteria. He threw sticks at teachers' houses. He snuck out of his dorm after curfew and organized games of hide-and-go seek.

"Me and Tywon Lawson had a competition at the beginning of the school year about who could sign their autograph the most around the school," Beasley said, referring to a teammate who now stars at North Carolina. "And I don't lose at anything, man, so I walked around with one of those Sharpies and signed graffiti everywhere. Every day, they were cleaning my name off water fountains, ceilings, desks, offices -- whatever. I just thought it was funny."

Oak Hill Coach Steve Smith blamed Beasley's poor behavior on simple immaturity. "He's really a good-hearted kid," Smith said. So, with two weeks left in the school year, Smith offered his star player one final chance: He told Beasley that, to be invited back to Oak Hill, he needed to impress administrators with flawless end-of-year behavior.

Two days later, Beasley signed his name in black ink on the principal's truck, Smith said.</div>

    Wow...
    </div>

    Wow, what an annoying brat.

If Beasley can pass Paxson's character assessment, he is the obvious pick at #1 imo. He is just so much more talented than Rose. Just have to make sure he keeps his head on straight, so he becomes the player he should become.

Rose put up some shockingly good stats in the tourney (6 games)

52% shooting (from 47% in regular season)
3.3 A/TO ratio (from 1.6 in regular season)

MIN 35.5 (from 28 in regular season)
    FG 7.2
    FGA 13.8
    FTM 5.7
    FTA 7.3
    3PM 0.8
    3PA 2.5
PTS 20.8 (from 13.9 in regular season)
    OFF 2.5
    DEF 4.0
    TOT 6.5
    AST 6.0
    TO 1.8
    STL 1.3
    BLK 0.3
    PF 2.0

A statistical anomaly or a guy raising his game. If you go with the latter, I don't see how you say "no" to this pick.

Fun stat: Rose got to the line almost as often in his one year (205 times) at Memphis than Deron Williams did in all three years (216 times) at Illini,

Chris Paul punched a guy in the nuts during a game in college. That is far worse than anything Beasley ever did in High School/Prep School.

That's interesting, but there's a lot of reasons for that. For one, Derrick Rose isn't as pure of a point guard as Williams. He's more scoring minded and wasn't nearly the floor general Williams was in college. Deron Williams also played with guys like Dee Brown (one of the greatest college players of all time), Luther Head, James Augustine, and Roger Powell, on arguably the best collegiate team in the last decade. Also, in the Illini's offense, he wasn't cutting to the rim as often as Rose was in Memphis' spread offense.

    Still, interesting though.

By the way, speaking of Derrick Rose's character, he slept with University of Memphis Wide Receiver Steven Black's girlfriend recently.

It's actually a good story. Black caught them in the act and told Rose to get dressed and meet him outside. When Rose met him outside, they got into a fight, and Steven Black wound up beating the shit out of him. As a result, Rose never had a press conference to announce that he was declaring for the draft, because he and the university thought it would be better to hide his bruises. The story leaked eventually though.

Wade was oozing with talent and dominating well before the tournament. I watched nearly every Marquette game Wade's last 2 years, and it was easy to see the guy was going to be a star. It was absurd that some mocks had Wade dropping out of the top 10, Riley made such a great pick.

It's not really fornicating, Rose is just a pimp. But he isn't reading the bible because he hasn't met Ben Gordon. Or should I say Rev. Ben Gordon.
