He threw 12 interceptions. Karem is a very athletic quarterback from the talent rich state of Texas. He has a decent arm and throws a very nice spiral. His throws are very catchable and he usually leads his receivers very well. His delivery looks a little awkward; he almost looks as if he slingshots the ball instead of throwing it. Nevertheless, he has little wasted motion and the ball usually gets where it needs to be. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>31. Jacob Karam (Friendswood)- 6'2 202 4.60 The Leaders- Houston, Missouri, Arizona In the Race- Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Utah and Rice Darkhorse- Rice Type of quarterback- passing quarterback Like the other two, he rates high on the character scale and is someone you can build a passing based offense around. Mossakowski and Karam come from pass first offenses so the learning curve would be shorter with them on adapting to the same type of offense. He is a very sharp passer and makes good reads in the pocket. He is not as adept a runner as Cody Green but is more developed as a passer. Right now of the three he is probably the most advanced and most ready to step into a college program and start in a heavy passing offense. As for the schools of choice he is more in-line with Cody Green in that he would like to stay relatively close to home. Unlike Green his college favorites pretty much reflect that accross the board. The one outlier would be Utah while Green had a couple of outliers. Jacob has great grades also as you can see from his offers from Rice and Stanford. For a timeline he is looking at committing by the end of the summer. He has told us that he is looking for a program that is up and coming, how comfortable he feels with the staff and being close to home. Most of the teams on his list fill this bill thus the possibilities for him are numerous. He did define a clear top three when we talked to him and that was Houston, Missouri and Arizona. If he had to make a decision right now my feeling is that the University of Houston would be the choice. Karam likes Coach Sumlin and his staff and feels that UH is definately going to make some noise soon. Of course the usual caveats, he still has schools to visit and what is true today can change tomorrow in recruiting.</div> Link
QB top priority in 2009: Class could be successful if OSU adds depth | NewsOK.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Quarterback is the top priority. Zac Robinson has two years remaining. Alex Cate (sophomore) and Brandon Weeden (freshman) provide good depth at a position OSU hasn't always had depth. After Kody Spano ended up signing with Nebraska in January, it's essential the Cowboys sign a quarterback in the 2009 class. Other than long shot candidate Tate Forcier, a San Diego quarterback who holds offers from just about everyone, dual-threat quarterback Clayton Moore, from Louisville, Miss., is believed to be the only quarterback OSU has offered so far. But Gundy and co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer won't put all their eggs in one basket. Other quarterbacks believed to be on OSU's list include: Cody Green (Dayton, Texas), Tyler Tettleton (Norman North), Jacob Karam (Friendswood, Texas) and Byrce Petty (Midlothian, Texas).</div>
Decisions, decisions | Friendswood Journal <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>When Jacob Karam finally decides where he’s going to play college football, it will be one big relief for the Friendswood senior quarterback. It will also make Mustang head coach Steve Van Meter’s life a little easier, too. “It’s getting a little bit stressful,” Karam said of the recruiting process. “I’m trying to get it out of the way, but I also want to make the best choice possible for me.” Karam, a 6-1 ½, 200-pound senior, is a blue-chip prospect with NCAA Division I schools clamoring for his talents. Some recruiting services have him ranked as high as seventh in the nation, and as low as eighth best in Texas – which still isn’t too shabby. The bottom line: When you’ve got Big 12, PAC-10 and SEC schools knocking at your door, that’s the stamp of approval that you’re a big-time talent. Van Meter knows that recruiting is a double-edged sword: it’s great publicity for the Friendswood program, but it can be a distraction, also. That wasn’t the case with former Mustang Jaxon Appel, who went on to become an all-conference performer at Texas A&M. “Jacob is definitely the most recruited kid we’ve ever had,” Van Meter said. “Jaxon committed in the summer of his junior year, so that was never an issue with him. “But Jacob is doing a great job of keeping things in perspective.” Among schools that have made offers for Karam’s services are Arizona, Stanford, Utah, Houston, Missouri, South Florida, Colorado State and Iowa State. “It’s good to have a lot of choices, but it does complicate matters,” Karam said. “It’s fun, but it’s exhausting, too. For the most part, I enjoy it.”</div>

Karam (6-2, 205) is a two-time honorable mention all-state selection. In his two-year career with the Mustangs, he’s totaled 4,299 yards and 46 touchdowns. Texas Tech lands QB commitment for Class of 2009 | DallasNews.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Friendswood senior Jacob Karam said Monday night that he has orally committed to Texas Tech, giving the Red Raiders their first quarterback recruit in the Class of 2009. Karam (6-2, 200), ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 19 dual-threat quarterback recruit in the nation (No. 6 in Texas), chose Tech over offers from Louisville, Missouri, Stanford, Utah, Houston, Arizona and South Florida. Karam, who will be a third-year starter this season, has thrown for more than 4,200 yards and 46 touchdowns with 20 interceptions over the last two seasons in Friendswood's spread offense. With senior Graham Harrell of Ennis graduating from Tech after this season, one of the Red Raiders' key needs in this recruiting class was signing a quarterback. Karam said the chance to get on the field quickly was among the positives he took away from Tech. "There were a lot of positives," Karam said. "When I was on campus, it was just a gut feeling I had that this is the place for me."</div>
Friendswood QB chooses Red Raider | RedRaiders.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Friendswood quarterback Jacob Karam had an interest in Texas Tech, but he never expected to get the opportunity - to play for the Red Raiders, that is. Once Tech coaches asked him to, Karam readily accepted. He announced an oral commitment to the Red Raiders on Monday after taking part in a Tech football camp over the weekend and receiving a scholarship offer. "I was very blessed,'' he said. "I had a lot of other scholarship offers. I visited a ton of schools. I thought every one of them was great, but Texas Tech felt like being at home. I had a gut feeling. I went with my heart and I committed.'' Karam, who said he is 6-foot-11/2 and 200 pounds, has been a two-year starter at Class 4A Friendswood. As a junior last season, he completed 120 of 221 passes for 1,961 yards with 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for five touchdowns, and the Mustangs finished 7-3. As a sophomore, Karam (pronounced "carom") hit on 150 of 254 passes for 2,003 yards with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The team went 7-4. He made honorable mention all-state both years. He said his arm strength and athleticism are his best assets. As for what he needs work on, Karam said "just becoming more of a student of the game and becoming more mature in my decision-making and stuff like that.'' Karam said Friendswood's offense is providing him some good preparation for Tech's, at least from a philosophical standpoint. "It's very, very similar to (Tech coach) Mike Leach's offense,'' he said. "It's a lot of passing, a lot of wide-open spread offense.'' Karam received 11 other scholarship offers - from Stanford, Houston, Arizona, Rice, Missouri, Iowa State, Colorado State, Utah, Louisville, South Florida and Vanderbilt.</div>
