I think he had a good year with the Hornets, showed some good moves in the playoffs this year. What do you think? Worth seeking again?
He'd certainly help us out with three point shooting. Actually, he'd make too much sense to sign so I'm not holding my breath. Maybe if he were older, more mediocre, and wanted to play for one more year Thron would love this guy. The question I want to know is will Pegs develop clinical depression if rumors pop up about us getting serious about Pargo now that Carmelo isn't happening.
Pass. He's Mikki Moore - a fringe player who bounced around long enough to land in the perfect situation. Let some other team overpay him. Not to mention the Nets let House walk for far cheaper and he's a very similar player.
As noted, the Nets liked Pargo enough to pursue him in each of the past three off seasons. This is hardly an abstract exercise. I assume that if the Nets pursued him three straight off seasons and he just had his best season and best playoffs that Thorn will pursue him again. And this year, unlike the previous three, the Nets have some money to play with. And considering they liked Keyon Dooling enough in 2005 to have Frank visit his house, they will pursue him as well. Dooling is 28 years old. He was close to signing with them, then went with Orlando.
I was hoping the Nets would sign him either two years ago or last year. Can't remember which (although I think it was two years back). But now someone is going to overpay for him and put him in a situation where he's expected to contribute. I'd rather sign Dooling.

He was close to signing with them, then went with Orlando.</div> I think both NI and ghoti are right here - that Pargo is coming off a "perfect fit" type situation with an extremely talented point guard that made him look better than he actually is, and that he's going to parlay that into a mid-level size contract he doesn't deserve. I also believe that Thorn falls in love with role players and generally overpays for guys who aren't going to help the team. I smell a thinner Rodney Rogers.
I like Pargo but personally I would save the money and sign Jamal Tatum to be the backup PG. I was really pulling for him to make the team last year. He's exactly what we need at backup PG. He's a high energy player who can stroke the 3, play tight defense although he does have to work on it a lil, and pass the rock. Tatum is far from a good PG but imo he's perfect for the backup PG role.
My take is that Pargo could always play pretty well, he was kinda buried on the Bulls behind Hinrich, Gordon, and Duhon is all. What really turned his situation around was going to NOH where they were forced to play him way more minutes than expected (in 2006-07) due to injuries to most of the better NOH players. Take a look at the numbers: Paul 64 Games, West 52, Devin Brown 58, Bobby Jackson 56, Peja 13. Their guards were Paul, Butler, Pargo, Brown, Jackson, and Peja.
