I think we need a three-point shooter more than just an athlete. What I like is his work ethic and desire for self-improvement; characteristics not often found in "busts." edit: there's some footage of him that's linked to one of our threads (it might be on NBA.com). I really encourage you guys to check out this guy's leaping ability, because of how effortless it is. It doesn't even look like he's jumping, it's like he just starts to float. You can also see this effortless floating ability in his jumper. It's pretty neat actually. edit 2:
Height: 6'8" That's pretty sweet. I wish that SU/WVU game was actually on TV, I really wanted to watch it. I could've checked out Alexander. Those stats look pretty good, too. 5 ft/pg and 2 orpg are pretty telling stats for me. You'd like to see him improve his shooting, though. 21 years old - plenty of time for improvement.

Heh, not sure if anyone noticed, but I was breaking the forum format left and right. Anyways, added his dimensions and possible NBA positions.
I watched the workout webfile with him, Speights, and Budinger. According to the ESPN reporter (IIRC, it was Chad Ford), Speights had one of the best workouts he'd seen and he did a great job defensively on Alexander. But he did praise Alexander's athleticism as being exceptional. I think Alexander has a scar on his forehead from where he once hit his head on the rim. That photo shows that's no old wive's tale. If Love and Randolph are both gone, I wouldn't mind us trading down a few spots to get Alexander and then picking the best big available at 21. There should still be a few interesting bigs there, including Jason Thompson. I like the idea of getting extra value with our picks in a trade down unless we're absolutely blown away by someone that's available at 10.

Alexander brings that jaw dropping athelticism and I like his "had to work for everything he has" mentality. Chase seems to be the smoothest, is the best shooter, and only a sophomore. CDR seems to bring that complete package of offense and defense, and has played at the tournament level.

If the Nets are planning to keep their picks and if the draft shakes out like the current Draftexpress mock, and if someone else doesn't really impress the Nets in the workouts leading up to the draft, then I think I would like to see them trade down and get something else of value for their pick. There are some interesting opitions from the 11-21 picks. Swingmen: CDR, Rush, Alexander, Budinger, Batum, Bigmen, Speights, Koufus, McGee, Hibbert
I've loved Alexander's game for awhile. This kid is silky smooth in the air. He's improved his jumper a lot over the last year. However, he's not a SF. He's not a great rebounder, he's not even a good rebounder. He's a big guard - think McGrady... but he doesn't have the team player mechanics like other shooting guards, and considering he will struggle to defend even NBA SFs, most SGs will eat him up in lateral movement department. Right now, he's like RJ without the "defensive" past. But as the article says, he hasn't played organized basketball for long, and he ultra competitive and has tireless work ethic. I'm just not sure it's enough.
I love this kid. His jumper will improve he's only been playing basketball for 5 years!! He's got so much potential.
