Anyone notice the teams the Lakers are defeating in the post season are considering blowing up their rosters and making blockbuster trades? Denver is entertaining offers for their franchise player Carmelo Anthony. Today I read this gem from the Salt Lake Tribune on the current state of the Utah Jazz. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ne other option is for the Jazz to sign Boozer and then trade him. * Understand that the Lakers will be around for a long time and deal for and with it. The Jazz might want to study the Lakers and figure out what they have to have to beat that team. Easy to say, tough to do. Will Boozer always struggle against the longer Lakers? If so, that should figure in. How can they best position themselves to not get eliminated by L.A. every postseason for the next five years?</div> Let's assume the Lakers go on to defeat the Spurs. There's already been discussion about the Spurs being 'old' and 'slow' with an aging bench. Not a single player on their bench rotation is under 30 years old. Next year they'll probably bring Tiago Splitter over and maybe Ian Mahinmi gets more opportunities, but the Spurs are due in for a massive overhaul with little trade assets available. The further the Lakers go in the post season the more we are going to see teams trying to adjust to compete with them. Not to mention the Lakers will have Bynum back next season ready and hungry. We've already seen Dallas and Phoenix make drastic trades to compete with the Lakers. Both have backfired miserably.
I can see the spurs trying to deal Manu if they lose this series. I can also see Finley and Horry hanging up their jerseys also.
We've already ruined Phoenix (they made that Shaq trade) and Dallas (Kidd trade). The Gasol trade has triggered a chain effect and thrown the entire league into a panic. They can't handle our shit. We're the baddest mother fuckers in the league.

He's a Piston's fan, he's referring to 2004. The Lakers are on a rampage right now, I don't care who we play.
All this is just really amusing for me, as a Laker fan. Finally, after all the turmoil we've been through for past couple of seasons, we're finally back where we belong. On top of the league. Granted, we haven't won anything yet, but the feeling I get when I watch this team is something I haven't experienced for years, or maybe ever. For the first time, I'm actually witnessing a team that can contend for a championship, with a roster filled with likable guys who love to be around each other. It's a great time to be a Laker fan, and this team be here competing for a 'ship for years to come. Our future is so bright...
Hm. Franchise killers? Well, I'm an optimistic person. I think of the Lakers as more of a Robin Hood-type. Steal from the rich, give to the poor. The Lakers have helped out teams like New Jersey and Miami, who were panicking with lofty contracts of old guys they didn't need. With the Gasol trade, the Lakers forced other teams to make moves - thereby releasing Miami and New Jersey from their burdens. And even with Seattle, the Spurs had to trade for Kurt, giving the Sonics a pick and a young big. Franchise killers? More like franchise rehabilitators! Thank you Lakers, for giving us Nets fans Devin Harris!
