UConn offers New London's Reed | TheDay.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>New London High School’s Jordan Reed, who has emerged as one of the most highly-recruited junior quarterbacks in the country, has been offer a scholarship by UConn football coach Randy Edsall, New London coach Jack Cochran said Saturday night. Edsall, per NCAA regulations, is not allowed to comment, but Cochran confirmed Reed was offered the chance to play for the Huskies during an unofficial visit to Storrs on Friday. “Jordan was very excited,” Cochran said. “He had a good talk with coach Edsall and learned a lot about the program. Coach Edsall talked to him about where he would fit in, the importance of playing in state, and what benefits that has for you when you’re done playing football.” UConn is the 10th school to offer a scholarship to the 6-foot-4, 235-pound Reed, who completed 122 of 202 passes for 1,706 yards and 28 touchdowns (only two interceptions) as a junior, leading the Whalers to an 11-1 record, the only loss to Ansonia in the Class S state title game. He also rushed 73 times for 570 yards and eight touchdowns. Cochran said Reed has also been offered scholarships by Boston College, Duke, East Carolina, Florida, Iowa, Marshall, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee.</div>
