This Dr discovered a way to clone dogs and created an auction for up to 5 people to clone their family dog. http://www.bestfriendsagain.com/ Here's an article about it. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>MILL VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioArts International (BioArts), today announced that it will sell five dog cloning service slots to the general public via a worldwide, online auction to be held June 18th. “We are thrilled to announce the Best Friends Again program,” said CEO Lou Hawthorne. “This auction will give five very lucky people the ability to clone their family dogs. Given how challenging it is to clone dogs, this is a very rare and special offer.” The Best Friends Again website, www.bestfriendsagain.com, showcases three perfect clones of Hawthorne’s beloved family dog “Missy”, who died in 2002. Missy has been the subject of extensive cloning research since the “Missyplicity Project” began in 1997. “I can’t decide which is more exciting: finally having three clones of Missy or being able to offer this amazing service to others,” said Hawthorne. BioArts has been granted the sole, worldwide license for the cloning of dogs, cats and endangered species. The license was granted by Start Licensing, Inc. and applies to the somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) cloning patents developed at the Roslin Institute for the cloning of Dolly the sheep. BioArts International is a new biotech startup focused on unique, untapped markets in the global companion animal, premium livestock and human genomics industries. The Best Friends Again program is a partnership between BioArts and the Sooam Biotech Research Foundation in South Korea, home to the best and most experienced dog cloning team in the world. I'm not sure quite how effective this will be. I'm not sure if any of you will have heard of Dolly the sheep, but she was cloned. However, she recently died at a relatively young age for a sheep. I'm not entirely sure how old the ewe that she was cloned from was at the time of cloning, but I think that Dolly lived for a time similar to how long the other sheep should have lived for, if you see what I mean. So, whilst she may have been a lamb in the early years, she may actually have been older but inside a young body. Or it could just be chance.
It reminds me of 6th day with Arnold Swartzneggar. So be warned, if you get your pet cloned, you probably will be cloned too, and your clone will steal your wife, and the evil clone empire will be trying to kill you, but turns out your clone will help you fight the evil clone company.
I don't like it, I don't know why but I just don't. We are messing around with nature and it's a very uncomfortable feeling of what's next. Kinda like what Lavalamp said above, just not the whole fighting clones etc. Though the thought of cloning a prototypical troop and using "it" on the front lines is soon going to be more of a reality soon.
I'm for human cloning of organs, but not of direct replicas of people. To do that would be way too dangerous in terms of a person's psyche; both the original and the copy.
lol if they clone actors, they can have never ending series, like Rocky could keep on going and going, or Rambo.
^ If my wife refuses to have kids, I've already informed her that I intend to clone myself. After hearing that, my father begged her to breed...
In doing so, I think we may finally realize how much atmosphere in upbringing plays in the role of development in people and animals....just because Rover 2 is an exact DNA duplicate of Rover 1, doesnt mean you are getting the same dog, in fact, its not even possible you would get the same dog, because your family dynamic cant be replicated....
We've been genetically altering food for centuries. Cross-pollination of plants, selective breeding of animals. People seem to be living longer anyhow.
Im all for it. Like I had this awsome Pit and I let my friend Mike Vick watch it. He came back with just Spike's coller. I cryed myself to sleep that day.
