<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Not content with blaming Richard Jefferson for the decline of the Nets' franchise, Dave Berri of Wages of Wins now saw RJ was the "most overrated player" in the NBA last season. Berri says: "Of the 129 players who played at least 2,000 minutes..(Jefferson) ranks ranks quite low (106 out of 129)" in "wins produced", his key statistical measure. In case you're wondering, Rajon Rondo is most underrated.</div> Source I remember when RJ was considered to be an underrated player.

I actually agreed with a lot of what they said. But Rondo is definitely not underrated, he is ridiculously overrated.

I know we hate his defense but he went from being underrated to putting up solid numbers and suddenly he is overrated? I don't think so.
It probably has to do with the money he's making now and the dropoff in production mainly due to injuries.
lol RJ goes from underrated to overrated in the course of a year. Why does the media love to hate the Nets??
I'd say it's been a work in progress. His defense has been slipping ever since K-Mart and Kittles got traded away. We used to think of him as a borderline All-Star that still has a lot of potential. Now he's entering his prime... All that's left is a borderline All-Star who makes a lot of money and we know what he can do.
Hoo boy... First, this has almost nothing to do with defense. Berri gets his info from box scores, so he's talking purely about offense, rebounding and mediocre defensive stats like steals and blocks. Berri's formula places a heavy emphasis on non-shooting box score stats and shooting efficiency over points per game. Thus, as RJ took on more of a scoring load this year and didn't rebound or assist as effectively, and also shot a lower percentage, he dropped in Berri's formula. Whether you believe his claim that this directly led to less wins for the Nets is up to you.
i doubt he's the most overrated player in the league, but his 22+ ppg scoring average definitely doesn't tell the whole story. this was a guy who used to get you close to a double-double every night. seems like after that ankle injury, he's never been the same going for rebounds and making plays. i don't know when we'll see the RJ of old again, and if the Nets can trade him now, they should.
