I don't get it. I don't remember the movie that well, so it's out of context for me. Sometimes they do things to hurt the other team's players.

The first play was Willie getting tackled. The 2nd was him fumbling the snap. What's so hard to understand?

Heh... It's a movie? In the movie "Longest Yard," Burt Reynolds called a play designed to allow a blitzing linebacker to be unblocked. As the guy was rushing him (at QB), he hit him in the nuts with a line drive pass.
They did it to hurt the QB? I don't know dude, it wasn't a play, just some extra-curricular activity.
At any level of competitive tackle football, the defensive coaches teach you to pursue the ball until the whistle is blown.....many players feel like they are arent doing their job if they dont "get in on the play".....for this reason, among others, lineman often pile onto the ball carrier....another reason could be to hurt the QB....another would be to try and cause the ball to come loose at the bottom of the pile....and yet another is because if you run up to a pile and stop, or "stand around the pile" as its called, this happens: HIT BTW, it does has a name, its called piling on....

It does hurt to make contact with another player, especially if you are diving into them....football players are conditioned to ignore pain though, and they do a good job of that....the pads that are designed to keep you from getting injured, are like weapons when they contact unpadded areas....I particularly hated getting my fingers caught between a face mask and a shoulder pad....Ive been at the bottom of many piles, and I never had trouble breathing unless someone punched me in the stomach, which did happen.... In real life, no player will pile on late enough to get the penalty on purpose....the movie did exagerate the timing involved.... Anytime you can cme out of a pile with the ball, theres a chance the official may give it to you....it just has to happen once to make all the other times worth it....I always tried to take the ball in piles, and I got my fair share, but I never had an official give me a fumble that wasnt a real one....
