Cassell's bitching about playing time because he's getting outplayed by a bunch of young guys, and his pride can't take that hit. Basically, he's being a punk.
I'd be frustrated with the rotations Doc uses as well. I know Cassell is struggling, but basketball is about rhythm and you can't turn it on and off when you're not clear what your role is on the team and when you're number is going to be called. Doc can get away with tweaking his lineups in the regular season, but in the post season you have to go with your best 8 and keep it consistent.
He's not good anymore. He's not good on defense, he can't hit shots, and he's stopped looking to distribute. He's old, he's slow, he's done.

He's old, he's slow, he's done.</div> He had the nice strip on Stuckey when the Pistons had a 2-1 fast break getting the ball back to his team. Celtics are lazy on offense when Detroit throws their zone at them. Everyone watches Paul Pierce pound the ball and drive in against two defenders. It's hard to distribute when your players are working to get open. And again KG does a disappearing act down the stretch taking fade away jumpers. The Celtics had no answer for McDyess or Maxiell tonight that's not Cassell's fault.
If it wasn't for Lindsay Hunter, Cassell would probably be DNP-CD for the whole Detroit series. It's obvious he has no intent to run the offense when he's in there, and all he does is jack up dumb shots and when he does pass it, it's to somebody who is in no position to score. The only reason he's even playing at all right now is because Eddie House can't handle the ball against pressure. Also, I'm so sick of hearing complaints about Doc's rotations. I give him credit for trying to make adjustments when his players are not playing well. Had he not made those adjustments, PJ Brown wouldn't have established himself as the go to big off the bench. I love Leon Powe, but he has been very inconsistent in the playoffs, especially with his rotations on defense. Doc doesn't look to his bench for offense, he looks for defense, and PJ Brown has been the best Celtics big man off the bench on D. But Doc is also not afraid to go back to Powe or Big Baby if Brown is not getting the job done. All 3 are pretty much interchangeable, so you can't blame Doc for trying to find the best fit on any given night. It's the right way to do things when roster spots 6-11 are so evenly talented.
Maybe Cassell should stop thinking shot every time he touches the ball when he has more talented players all around him.
Does Cassell every stop complaining? Complained about his salary for years. Complained to get out of his deal with the Clippers. Complaining yet again. -Petey
