the UFC is stepping up and rewarding the fighters who go out and get'er done!

75 k to the fight of the night, sub of the night and KO of the night!!!
I for one am happy to see them take this approach, every fighter is aware of it and wants a big bonus like that, you're going to see more exciting fights with that kind of cheddar up for grabs.

    here's the article
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Post fight bonuses were handed out following UFC 84 including “Knockout of the Night” to Wanderlei Silva, “Submission of the Night” to Rousimar Palhares and “Fight of the Night” to Goran Reljic and Wilson Gouveia. Each fighter will receive a bonus check of $75,000 for their efforts.

Wanderlei Silva made short work of Top 10 fighter Keith Jardine. The “Axe Murderer” caught his opponent early on in the fight with his signature aggressive style. He quickly moved to the ground and unloaded a barrage of strikes on Jardine, knocking him completely unconscious to end the fight in less than one minute.

Jardine was subsequently taken to the hospital for a mandatory CAT scan due to being knocked out. No update on his status was available at the time of publication, although his trainer, Greg Jackson, told MMAWeekly.com that Jardine was “okay” and fully alert before being taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Rousimar Palhares made an impressive debut defeating UFC veteran Ivan Salaverry by armbar in the first round of their match-up. After taking Salaverry’s back for the first half of the fight, Palhares transitioned to the armbar to finish the fight and pick up the win.

Goran Reljic and Wilson Gouveia put on an exciting bout, well deserving of “Fight of the Night” as both dominated at different points in the match-up.

Reljic looked dangerous throwing high kicks throughout the fight, but in the early part of the second round, he got caught with strikes from Gouveia who tried to follow up and finish on the ground.

Reljic survived and ended up catching Gouveia back on the feet, and when he followed up on the ground, he left no doubt that he was going to win the fight, punishing Gouveia until the action was stopped.</div>

oh and the live gate attendance take was $3.7 Million, fourth highest MMA gate in Nevada history, but nowhere near as much as the $5 Million they took in Montreal. Figure they do 500-600K PPV buys and you're looking at 25-30 Mill. Of course PPV and the Casino take their share, but 12-15 mill for the UFC with fighters salaries around 1 mill is not a bad night.

and here's who ALMOST got paid [IMG]

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The (almost) KO of the night

Wanderlei Silva won the knockout of the night - and deservedly so - for his thirty-six second destruction of Keith Jardine. However, up until that point, it was another man who was tabbed for the 75k bonus.

"Shane Carwin had KO of the night up until Wanderlei (Silva),” said Dana White.

Carwin looked extremely impressive in taking out Christian Wellisch and his mouthpiece. While Brock Lesnar is getting all the press as the next big heavyweight for the UFC (and boy, do they need a new heavyweight), Carwin could very well be the difference maker in the division for years to come - especially if UFC 84 was any indication.</div>

I am on the Shane Carwin bandwagon !!
    anyone else wanna join?

If he can make the heavyweight division look like it has a legit champ then sure. Big Nog was losing most of the time during his fight, and he has a huge heart, but I much prefer him as a contender than as the champ.

So far the guys with the best frames to be elite heavyweights seem, Brock Lesnar (needs submissions defense?), Shane Carwin, Cheick Kongo (physically he is a beast).

    Here's NASC's medical suspensions for UFC 84

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Thursday released the medical suspensions stemming from the UFC 84: Ill Will event that took place on Saturday, May 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

B.J. Penn retained his UFC lightweight title, defeating Sean Sherk in the main event by TKO at the end of round three. Sherk has been suspended until July 7 with no contact until June 24 due to a laceration to his right cheek.

Wanderlei Silva defeated Keith Jardine by TKO in the first round and Jardine has subsequently been suspended until Nov. 21 for a nasal fracture. The Greg Jackson trained fighter can be cleared by a doctor before the November date, but cannot compete earlier than July 24, with no contact until July 9.

Tito Ortiz was suspended for six months or until he gets his left hand and wrist x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor after his unanimous decision loss to Lyoto Machida.

Wilson Gouveia was suspended for six months or until he gets clearance from a doctor for a broken nose and possible cheek. The American Top Team fighter also suffered broken ribs in his TKO loss to UFC newcomer Goran Reljic.

Kazuhiro Nakamura was medically suspended for six months or until he gets clearance from a doctor due to a broken nose suffered in his TKO loss to Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

Jason Tan was suspended for six months or until he gets his broken nose cleared by a doctor. Tan lost to Dong Hyun Kim by TKO in the opening moments of the third round.</div>

nothing out of the ordinary, usually the 6 months suspensions get cleared before that by a Dr. so it seems like no one will be out too long.

Well it seems Gouviea's arms withstood the leg kicks fine, I wonder if it was a legkick that broke the ribs though?

I'm also wondering about Sherk's right hand, the announcers were saying it seemed to be broken, which seemed to be quite plausible as Sherk wasn't really throwing punches with it later in the round. He would throw the occaisional one, but didn't seem to put a full swing with it.

if it's broken it would have been reported and it'd be in this suspension list.
Which adds to the mystery of him not using the hand.

Jardine finally made it out of the body bag? Jesus...I still watch that fight daily, I love Tivo.

He only got paid $10,000 for that to becuase he wore his own brand. That's not counting whatever Dana gives him on the side.
