Adding Redd a Possibility

The Bucks are going to get better offers than what the Cavs can give them.

True...teams with drafts pick to offer up....or expiring contracts

 

cavs have expiring contracts. to be honest I don't know of many teams that will invest that much into an injury prone player..........the cavs will (and can), because they're desperate to keep Bron happy and in cleveland.............I have a gut feeling Redd will be in cleveland next year.......if he can stay relatively healthy, then watchout NBA........

 

He would've been a good addition before he signed that terrible contract. Now it just comes off as a desperation move to keep Lebron happy.

True they do have expiring contracts, but with Mil. rebuilding, thier going to want more than a #19 pick in a trade involving Redd. To them if they can't get at least a lottery pick in return it won't be worth it. Cleveland's gonna have to pull off multiple deals and get a pick in the lottery to offer or work a three way deal that will net Mil. a lottery pick

 

The Cavs have $29.6 million of expiring contracts for the 2008-09 season. This includes $13 million for Wally Szczerbiak, $7.3m for Snow, $4.8m for Joe Smith and $4.5m for Damon Jones. They are also rumoured to be going after Elton Brand. I'd love to see them trade some of these guys, in combination with another one or two players (possibly Varejao/Boobie/West) for Brand or Redd, and that could make the Cavs a really formidable team, especially if it is Elton Brand that they manage to acquire. Both guys are injury-prone, it seems, and their value is at a slump right now, so it is probably important to move quickly to get a trade finalised in principle even if it cannot be completed for a while.

I hear that...they do have those exp. contracts and can always sign and trade the likes of Gibson or Brown. They could swing some deals to get those guys but might have to involve other teams with lottery picks thier willing to part with to slide Mil or the Clips way. Hopefully for the Cav's sake the league rules in favor of Snow opting out of his contract due to injuries...I believe the Cav's can use his contract for like 3.5 mil in trade exception.

 

Perhaps the Cavs might be able to trade up in the Draft with Varejao, and then trade away the lottery pick as well as future picks along with possibly Boobie/West/Brown and expiring contracts for Redd/Brand. It's a long shot, but we would have said the same about the last minute trade Ferry pulled of in February.

P.S. Denny, check the severs or something, I'm not sure the Cavs forum is capable of holding this much activity in one day!

exactly, we see eye to eye on this one. I'm a Wolves fan so I understand the pain of having a world class talent getting wasted by a front office that can't build a team around him. They really gotta rock the boat and do things right this off season or run the risk of losing him to his homeboy Jay-Z when his contract runs out

 

From what I hear from all the Milwaukee fans, Redd has become extremely selfish in recent years, hence his gaudy ppg numbers and low winning %. I wouldn't be able to tell you if that was true though, because the networks never put any team outside of L.A., Chicago, Boston, and Detroit on tv.

Either way, if the Cavs were to go for any player, I'd go for Brand first simply based on team needs. They don't need a guy who's going to take around 20 shots a game and not do much for them defensively or on the boards.

Also, I want to say that expiring contracts are more enticing than people think for a rebuilding team. Just look at Jefferson/Ratliff for Garnett, Kwame for Gasol, etc. That's the NBA of today. Every team outside of New York seems to be all about saving money these days.
