Butterfield, Glaser Up to the Challenge as State's Top Quarterback Prospects | ArkansasSports360.com

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It's a shame Lake Hamilton quarterback Phillip Butterfield and his Springdale counterpart, Ashton Glaser, will not face off on a football field this fall.

Butterfield's Wolves and Glaser's Bulldogs play in separate classifications, so there will be no playoff matchup and the nonconference schedule does not see the two schools meet. That means the state's top two quarterbacks won't go head-to-head in 2008.

They'll be linked and compared all season anyway.

Glaser and Butterfield are the top of the class when it comes to 2008 quarterback prospects. Both have been receiving recruiting attention and will be among the state's most watched players this season.

The accolades started coming for Butterfield, the Lake Hamilton signal caller, after a stellar junior campaign. Butterfield (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) led the Wolves to an undefeated regular season and an appearance in the 6A state title. He finished the year with a school-record 2,794 yards and 30 touchdowns.

With the great season, the University of Tulsa offered him a scholarship, and he accepted. Since he committed to the school in the spring, he has since been offered by Southern Mississippi University. With a repeat of his junior season, more scholarship offers could come.

"He is worthy of his hype," said Jason Allen, former University of Arkansas quarterback and co-founder of the Top Gun Quarterback Challenge. "He is kind of the lead candidate for top quarterback in the state."</div>
