Who would you rather have on your team? Devin Harris: 14.8 PPG 5.8 APG Caremlo Anthony: 25.7 PPG 7.3 RPG Which would be better for our team? I'd choose Melo.
It is just to show how absurd the Rose is the consensus most talented, and best player in the draft, and show how far they really are apart. These were the closest I could get. This comparison hurts Beasley a little, because Harris gets a bit more assists than Rose, and Beasley scores a bit more, and gets significantly more rebounds. It needs to be nailed into people's heads that these guys weren't close in college. Beasley was dominant all of the time, Derrick Rose very little of the time. The D-Rose supporters are like the Hillary Clinton campaign. ...saying it's an even battle.
As posted on another board: "He posted the second-most rebounds (408) by a freshman in NCAA history, trailing just the record of 462 set by Nevada's Pete Padgett in 1972-73, while he collected the third-most points (866) by a freshman behind LSU's Chris Jackson (965; 1988-89) and Texas' Kevin Durant (903; 2006-07). As of the last NCAA ranking, he still was rated among the top-5 in the nation in both scoring (third) and rebounding (first). He leads the nation in five categories, including double-doubles (28), 40-point games (three), 30-point games (13), 20-point, 10-rebound games (23) and 30-point, 10-rebound games (13). He is just the 11th player in NCAA Division I history to post 28 or more double-doubles in a season and the first since Wake Forest's Tim Duncan collected 29 during the 1996-97 season." It is amazing how everything Beasley has done in college is being ignored and marginalized for the hometown honey.
If the Bulls pass up Beasley they are gonna be kicking themselves for the next year, until they get a chance to win the lottery again... I don't see how anyone could possibly put these two on the same level. Granted they both will be all star players at the minimum, but Beasley is going to be a franchise player and a superstar. Hes so much like Melo except he can rebound and has longer arms. However, I don't think the Melo/Harris comparison is very accurate. Rose is somewhat like Harris, but will most likely MUCH better, Just not on Beasley's level. The only thing holding Rose back for me is his low assist numbers. He isn't as true of a pg as people make him out to be, and i think a lot of people are overhyping him. can't really go WRONG with either pick because they both will be good, but Beasley IMO is the one the Bulls need to go after.
