Before teaming with Kobe, Gasol has never won a playoff game in his life.

Odom and Gasol have to score 37+ on a good % for the Lakers to have a shot at winning a game.

Front court....you said it was a terrbiile way to analyze.

37+? You can't be serious... Lol. You mean combined right, not individually? I somewhat concur in that case.

And a general note: Laker fans need to really calm down, whether we win this series or not (yeah we will, but I won't get credit because I said Lakers in 5/6 earlier). We don't need too many of these emotional LG posts.

delusions of gradeur?

that was some fourth quarter though when it got tight. Both teams played well, The Celtics just played better.

Here's the difference in this series though, Lakers came back fron 20 down in the 4th of Game 2 and lost.. Celtics came back from 24 down in the first, and then 20 down in the 3rd and they win it cause that's what Champions are supposed to do.

Deny all you want this series is OVER. Lakers have finally lost one in Staples, I don't see them winning 3 in a row with the way they've played this series.

this thread is needing some Pegs and his anti-Celtic ranting though.. were is that Celtic-hating, Laker bandwagoning Nets fan anywho [IMG]

ASSSWHIP pretty much sums it up lol.

I can't wait to see the reactions of all the smug Celtics on this board right now after we take the next three games.

I missed the game. I don't really know what happened, how it happened...so I don't really have much to say, except that it sucks.

I missed the game too. Did Kobe choke that badly, or were the C's keying up on him and nobody else stepped up?

I always love it when the Lakers lose. Now all you have to do is choke for the next 5-6 years with a team that's bound to be improve, and I'll be good... frigg.

Smug... have your gone through this thead at all?
If anyone has been smug the entire Finals and before.. it's been Lakers fans. Not all of them, but the most smug comments HAVE come from Lakers fans or bandwagoners.

Man, it was an incredible comeback for the Celtics.

1st Quarter Lamar Odom and first Quarter domination
The Celtics were settling for jumpshots too much. They were hitting the rim, rimming out on all their shots and they were for the most part taking deep jump shots. On offense Lamar Odom was picking them apart and was making every shot he took and finding the open shooter or a cutting Gasol. Lamar was I think 6-6 or 7-7 in the first Quarter and had 3-4 assists and 3-4 FTs. The Lakers go up by 21 points in the first Quarter which is the biggest lead a team in the Finals has ever gotten. It looked like a big blowout. Ariza also came into the game and he was huge, he was playing tough D on Pierce, he got I think either 1 or 2 steals and grabbed a couple of big offensive boards and really put a lot of energy into the Lakers.

2nd Quarter
The Lakers largest lead at one point was 24 points, the game kind of went basket for basket. Kobe wasn't hitting his J, Lamar was no longer their go to guy and they didn't run the offense through him much for the rest of the game, and the Celts were trying to cut the lead, but the Lakers still had a good lead at the end of the half as Farmar hit a running 3 point shot before the buzzer.

3rd Quarter, the Comeback

The Celtics go from 18 points down to a 1 point game. Perkins injures his shoulder in the 3rd with the Celts still down a fair amount, and things look bad, as they have to play PJ Brown who has played far better than most people expected for such an old guy.

On defense, the Celtics were playing tough defense, and playing man to man. When they would iso Kobe on Pierce, Pierce played good man to man defense, and they would sometimes send a man to double Kobe. Kobe was missing most of his shots and he would have the ball in his hands a lot but would usually pass it off, because he didn't get a good look. However when they doubled, they were quick to rotate their defense and prevent the Lakers from getting an open look. They also exerted good pressure and Allen got a couple of steals, and a couple of others got 1 I think as well.

On offense, the Allen came up with some transition buckets from the steals, and Pierce was the primary playmaker in the halfcourt set. He attacked the basket hard a couple of times and came up with tough layups. KG also started to hit his shots when left open for the deep 2.

In the first 3 quarters Kobe only attacked the rim a couple of times and he was 2-11.

4th Quarter

In the fourth quarter Kobe finally decided to be aggressive, he gets 2 layups, 1 dunk, makes 2 FT and misses 1 layup.
In jump shooting he makes 1 jump shot, but misses 3 2 pointer jumpshots, and a 3 pointer near the end.

In the fourth quarter Kobe was 4-9 although the play by play indicates 4-8. I don't know why but they didn't include his 3 point attempt near the end of the game.

The Celtics kept on fighting in the 4th, Pierce makes a tough deep 2 point shot with Kobe's hand in his face. The Celtics are attacking the hoop, dishing the ball trying to find the open man. KG hits a deep 2 and 2 FT, Posey hits a 3, House hits a 3.

Last 3 and half minutes:
The Celtics were up 84-83, they had just gotten the lead for the first time in the game at the 4 min mark.

With 3:16 left to go, Allen attacks the basket hard and makes a tough reverse layup as Gasol rotated over to help defend Allen and the ball barely rolls in. Celts 86-83

The Celtics play good defense and Vujacic has to take a tough 2 point shot (2:44), Odom manages to get the offensive board, Farmar misses a 3. (2:31)

The Celtics try to get a good look and eventually KG gets open for an open 2 a few feet from the 3 point line and sinks it. Celts 88-83 (2:10 mark)

Kobe attacks the rim and is fouled by Pierce, makes 2 FT (Celts 88-85 2:03)

I forget, but I think Pierce was attacking the rim and was fouled by Gasol Pierce makes 1 of 2 (Celts 89-85 1:44)

Kobe makes a layup (Celts 89-87 1:30)

The Celts run the clock down, and Ray Allen dishes to James Posey who takes a hard 3 and I think he was off balanced when he took it. (Bos 92-87 1:13)

Kobe makes a quick 2 from Fisher (Bos 92-89 1:04)

Kobe puts too much body on Pierce and causes him to stumble, but Pierce sells it. Pierce makes 2 FT (93-89 0:46)

The Lakers use a timeout and get the ball to halfcourt, they pass the ball in and they almost lose it. I forget who it was but someone gets it back and almost gets trapped at the side of the 3 point line. He dishes it to Kobe and Kobe lobs an alley-oop to a wide open Gasol. (Celts 94-91 0:40)

The Lakers put a lot of pressure and the Celts pass the ball a couple of times to get past halfcourt. Allen is being defended by Vujacic who is putting a lot of pressure. Allen lets the clock count down, and manages to get a step on Vujacic, there was not a single Laker in the paint to help out. They were all spread out to the 3 point line, Allen gets the big layup. (Celts 96-91 0:16)

Then the game was pretty much over, Turiaf misses a jumper, Kobe misses a 3, Eddie House hits a FT. Gameover 97-91.

That's not likely to happen. The Celtics only need one more win, in order to finish off the series as champs. While the Lakers have to win every single game from now on.

The Celtics have three games ahead of them. Two being home. I honestly don't see us taking this. But you know? There's always next year.

If the Lakers do indeed somehow win this series. They'll be the first time in history to overcome a 3-1 Finals deficit to win the championship.

By the way. This is "ASSSWHIP". I figured out why I couldn't sign in with the username "LakerBlood". It was because it's just a display name. The real name I should have typed in was "CelticBlood".

Sorry guys, I was mad last night. Not drunk. I couldn't hold it in any longer. I had to release the anger somehow.

I don't understand how you can go from "CelticBlood" to "LakerBlood"

I'm sorry, but I don't really see how you could have been so pissed off about the loss. Why not just root for the Celtics now since they're up 3-1 and call yourself a Celtic fan? It should make you feel better

Don't apologize for how angry you were, that is natural. How you went about it calling people out here and there with really derogatory terms for a public forum just wasn't right.

Boston wanted the game more, and it was obvious. It's been seen the entire series, and I don't see the series going past game 6.

Kobe fans can finally stop comparing him to MJ too, b/c he would have NEVER let that happen - especially at home. He's a great player and MVP of this season, but people need to stop wasting their breath for any further discussions.

I'm really happy for the Celtics too. KG and Pierce deserve a ring - they've been alone for so many years and I'm glad their hard work is finally paying off and have help.

Lol one loss doesn't take Kobe off of the MJ level. Stop hating. Kobe can't control when his teammates aren't moving without the ball, aren't hitting their shots, and aren't being aggressive.

Kobe is the closest to Jordan's level of any player we've seen, but he still has a lot to do in order to elevate himself to Jordan's level.
