<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 1 2008, 07:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I am a little concerned about the injuries, but I don't think it will hold him back in the future. Our medical staff isn't really brilliant at what they do, so at hindsight, I actually wasn't so surprised to see Bynum miss the target date of recovery. Look at our past injuries, and see how many players actually return at the expected date. Besides Kobe, everyone takes longer to heal than reported. A couple of examples being Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm, Vladimir Radmanovic, Trevor Ariza, and Pau Gasol. All five players took much longer to heal from their injuries than previously expected. Not to mention they basically destroyed Karl Malone's knee, causing us a championship and forcing him into retirement. Like Mamba said, if our medical staff didn't try to bullshit through this injury, and allowed him to have surgery earlier, Bynum could have been playing by now. Also, anthroscopic knee surgery doesn't scare me at all. Kobe had it during the 2004 offseason, and look at him now. Tracy McGrady also had anthroscopic surgery on his knee (or maybe it was the shoulder) this offseason, and nobody has made a big deal out of it.</div>

Lamar and Pau didn't take that much extra time to heal.

Man, Karl Malone was old as hell too...

Last season, didn't Lamar take longer to heal from his injury then first expected? It was the one he suffered against Houston, that kept him out for like a month or so.

I know for a fact Pau's injury took longer than expected. Remember when he sprained the ankle, he was expected only to miss a couple of games, but he ended up missing like two weeks or something? It was during the crucial stretch of the season as well

Yeah, Pau took a lot longer than most expected. But ankle injuries are tricky injuries. They can flare up whenever.

Lamar has also missed some extended time to injuries and has also torn the same labrum 2 out of the past three years, IIRC. I wouldn't necessarily give him a clean bill of health.

Bynum was averaging around 20 and 10 the month before his injury, I believe. I saw those stats posted by nMg some time ago

Beasley averaged 20 and 10 in college, something Bynum didn't do [IMG]

Bynum couldn't/didn't even average 20 and 10 in high school. [IMG]

Lamar has 5 75+ game seasons, and a 64 game season in his nine years in the League. I could see him miss 15 or so games like Shaq does yearly, but only in the worst case.

I heard Pau could be out a couple of weeks, shortly after he got injured.

I remember when Pau got injured, weren't the reports saying he would only miss the roadtrip? And then he'd be back on the court against Golden State, but he turned out coming back like a week or so after the Golden State game

A High Ankle Sprain can easily vary. Let's not start blaming everything on our staff.

Odom on average misses a little less than 7 games a season over the last 5 years. That's pretty decent. And he's completely ready for the playoffs by the end of the year.

Three words for this: Not. A. Chance.

Bynum is going to be a dominant force in this league who has already shown flashes of being a dominant center. We're not sure if either Beasley or Rose is going to dominate.

Aside from that, I love the way this team is built anyways. All the players on this team compliment each other perfectly and I think we're going to be able to dominate this league for at least the next five years or so as long as Dr. Buss keeps this team in tact.

Yeah, I thought we all learned our lesson from the Jason Kidd scenario. Bynum is untouchable no matter what. We don't need any other pieces right now, we have a real team.
