<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Like an auto race official worried about a mishap up the track, Bulls officials were waving a figurative caution flag Friday, warning media to slow down on anointing Doug Collins as the team's next coach.

Still, sources insist the only way Collins will not be on the Bulls' bench next season is if he gets cold feet and takes a pass on what is his job for the taking.

While general manager John Paxson spent Friday battling weather delays for his return flight to Chicago from Orlando -- where he spent the last four days at the NBA's predraft camp -- Bulls guard Ben Gordon was doing duediligence on Collins.

Gordon, who prides himself in being atuned to all things NBA, was surfing the Internet to gather information on Collins.

''I don't really know much about him, so it's kind of difficult to say I have an opinion,'' Gordon said. ''I've been trying to catch up and have been doing my research online to learn as much about him as possible. I've been interested in reading what his former players have to say. ''From just watching him on TV, it's very easy to see he has a wealth of knowledge.''

Gordon said he ''definitely got excited'' when word was Mike D'Antoni was about to bring his run-and-gun offense to the Bulls.

''Because we have the type of players in Thabo Sefolosha and Luol Deng and Larry Hughes where that [system] could've possibly worked,'' Gordon said.

Collins is more about half-court sets and defense.

''That's OK, we've shown we can have success doing that,'' Gordon said. ''We're the type of team that can adapt to whatever.''

Gordon, who has been working out at the Berto Center, said he is eager to talk with Paxson about the coaching situation. A team spokesman said Friday that Collins and the Bulls agreeing to a deal is not a matter of simply ''crossing a 't' or dotting an 'i.''' Matters remain such as length of contract and who will join Collins on the coaching staff.</div>

It is great to see our guys practicing in May at our practice facility. Since Gordon was the team voice after we won the lottery, and during the D'Antoni situation, I am going to assume he was at the Berto then, and that is why he was the guy giving the comments. It is great to have such a winner like this on the team, the guy was ready to come out gunning next year to get the Bulls back on track, regardless of what pick we got. Now that he sees he will be playing next to a great player in Michael Beasley, I am sure he is working even harder to make the Bulls a championship team.

People who think Gordon is going to be a tough sign are out of touch. Gordon LOVES working for Paxson. Gordon will probably step right off the court into the Bulls front office working with Paxson. Paxson isn't letting Gordon go, especially if we are taking a guy like Beasley who will need Gordon's positive leadership.
