    Do you see anyone in this years draft, that could be available at 10, and still has potential to become an NBA starter in the next 3-4 years? (and I mean starter on a contending caliber team, not memphis starter kind [IMG] )

    I dont see prospects like that... everyone has major flaws IMO.
    Maybe I just don't like this years class... or maybe I don't want rookies now, I'd prefer to contend next year [IMG]

    Nobody on this board would like the JO-Brand frontcourt on the Nets? vow..
    I thought at least someone would agree [IMG]
    </div>

    Sure, plenty of guys.
    </div>

    Do you see any of them with a chance of becomin a JON level player in the near future?

    </div>

    That question isn't relevant.

    2 points:
    1) It's not #10 for JON. We'd be sacrificing other players and salary that could be used for bench help.
    2) JON's injuries are a big concern.

    Uhm. Elton Brand is not injury prone. One season ending injury doesn't make him injury prone.
    O'Neal on the other hand, is injury prone.

    Elton Brand has been historically a more productive player than O'Neal. He's also a ton smarter and much more mature. O'Neal talked crap about Kenyon Martin during 01-02 playoffs then got destroyed by him. Elton Brand received a Sportsmanship award.

    The two guys are on different levels. And getting them both is just silly.

    Nobody on this board wants the Nets to pick up The Professor?

    I thought at least one person would be excited about that.

    Because that is the price to get an allstar big man.

    Look at what Gasol did for the lakers. The Kobe Gasol PnR.. how leathal is that? vow...
    VC with JON would work just as well IMO.
    </div>

    That is a ridiculous comparison. LMAO at VC and JON working as well as Kobe and Gasol.

    JON is no longer an All Star bigman, has a boat anchor of a contract and a crappy attitude.

    Why don't we just wait until next year's trade deadline and see which team David Stern wants Brand to play for,

    I see lots of them being more productive than JON over the next 3 years.

    JON is going to get 21+ million dollars a year over the next two seasons. Why would he opt out? I can see the desire of wanting a contract past 2 years, but who in this league is going to pay him anywhere close to that kind of money?

    edit: whoops I'm an idiot [IMG] , thanks ghoti

    Any person with a brain would prefer Brand over O'neal.

    But we are now talking about, who is possible for the nets to trade for.

    Several reports have already stated that Brand aint going anywhere whereas O'Neal has stated he wants to leave Pacers, the Pacers have tried to ship him away as well.

    JO might seek for a contract like Carter's. Length and security.

    With that said, I do not really like O'Neal as well, he is way overpaid... but if he is the only legit post player(stater+all-star caliber) player we can get.... then damn.... lets get him.

    If Brand opts out I would rather pick him up tho.

    Every day I thank Basketball God that the Nets never took the plunge on this guy and got saddled with him. (Even though I'm sure they tried very hard to screw up and were saved from themselves.)

    The franchise who was stuck with him is laying in tattered ruins.

    Remember the year the Pacers won 61 games and made the ECF? That was the last time he was relevant and he shot 43% that season.

    Yes, yes. You know the guy, who injured his ankle, but played through pain, and played like a superstar in the last 2 months of the season.

    Every player is injury prone in the NBA, since it's a phisical sport. You will turn your ankles, jam your knees, etc.
    Some guys play through it, and some sit out.
    Change of scenery can change the way you handle it...

    He better play like a superstar, he's getting paid like one...

    Every player in the NBA is not injury prone. A change of scenery will not fix that. That's just ridiculous thinking.

    VC get's paid the same amount as RJ, or Odom for example.

    You really don't understand what I meant to say? I say it's all about the way you handle the pain. JO can play 70 games a season with the injuries that he has, if he wants to. Indiana was just not the place where he would want to play through pain.
    And for VC toronto was not the place, where he would play though pain. NJ is.
