If that mystery veteran coach isn't Isiah, who the hell else can it be?

Well, there goes the plan of having Thibo and D'Antoni at assistants, and Red Auerbach as head coach.

I would rate the head coaching odds as:

    John Paxson: 2/1
    Isiah Thomas: 4/1
    Doug Collins: 8/1
    John Wooden: 12/1
    Avery Johnson: 20/1
    Red Auerback: 200/1

Who knows what the hell this guy is doing any more. Although news that Collins isn't head coach is good news I guess.

Wow, I'd love to see it. He's got to be like 90 tho, and he's certainly not a defensive minded coach like you'd expect Pax to be looking at.

How about Paul Westphal? Head coaching experience, white PG (looks like Pax), serious playoff experience as a great player and as coach, and he (like Skiles) would come to us from Phoenix.

    How about Cartwright?

    That would be a surprise.

I was thinking Coach K might be a candidate, but then I thought about how big of a cheapass Reindsorf is, and then realized it wouldn't happen.

Also, Paul Westphal comes with Avery Johnson...hopefully this is just misinformation, and the veteran coach is just Avery Johnson, not a new guy, but he may still be under contract in Dallas.

I would love to see a coaching staff of:

    Coaches:
    Avery Johnson
    Mario Elie
    Paul Westphal
    Johnny Bach
    Bill Cartwright
    Ron Harper

Also, would love to have Kukoc on the bench, but that has no chance of happening. It looks like we will have a legit coaching staff this year at least, no more Jimbo the Clowns, Ron Adams, and Pete Myers.

btw, Cartwright is probably on his way back.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to sources, Bill Cartwright recently contacted general manager John Paxson to discuss returning as an assistant to the team he played on and coached before Paxson fired him in November 2003.

The former teammates hadn't spoken much, if at all, since Cartwright's firing. But a source said Paxson sounded receptive to the idea.

Coincidentally, Cartwright rebuffed Paxson's suggestion to hire Collins as an assistant shortly after Paxson took over for Jerry Krause in April 2003.

It's unknown how Collins would react to hiring Cartwright, who has been working as an assistant under Lawrence Frank in New Jersey. Cartwright hasn't ruled out a return to the Nets.</div>

Hey, he's only 70. He was head coach of the Pheonix WNBA team 2 years ago and on the Seattle bench last year.

I don't think he wants to be head coach after near 30 years out of the job.

However, I've stated many times my choice would be Kareem.

What do you have against Auerbach? It's not like he ever slept with a football player's girlfriend.

Flip Saunders is the mystery coach if anyone still cares. Bulls are sending overtures to try to get to interview him.
