    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>(May 28) - Tobey Maguire isn't giving up his Spider-Man tights just yet.

Earlier this week movie blogs across the internet were abuzz with rumors, first reported on Latino Review, that Sony was looking to recast the dual role of Peter Parker/Spidey for "Spider-Man 4" and that 25-year-old Patrick Fugit ("Almost Famous") and 21-year-old Michael Angarano ("Sky High") were the top two contenders.

But Sony wasted no time in shooting down those rumors. Studio spokesperson Steve Elzer unequivocally denies that anyone but Maguire has ever been considered for the role, saying "there's not a scintilla of truth to [the report]."

In fact, Sony has yet to confirm that "Spider-Man 4" is even in the works.

The studio had no comment when, in mid-May, Cinematical ran a story claiming that Sony was so enamored with a story arc submitted by screenwriter James Vanderbilt ("Zodiac") that they had decided to split his script into two movies and film "Spider-Man 4" and "5" back-to-back.</div>

Acting wasn't the reason for why this series was ruined.

Three was terrible! It reminded me of a teen drama you'd see on the WB. They need to discontinue the series. If not, just get Joel Schumacher to direct he'll eventually kill the franchise.

If this movie doesn't have the Lizard after yamking us around previously then sod the fools. Spidey v the Lizard & Kraven would be cool... watch 'em go w/ Electro or Rhino.

I read they might make a Venom movie. Yeah! not!

The first two Spidey movies were respectable, the third one was the worst super hero movie I've ever seen. It was just fuckin' awful. I've read various reports that stated Raimi was pressed to make Spidey III and rushed it, which I think is obvious.

I'm not going to give up on the franchise, yet, because I believe Raimi can save his ass and make a 4th one that is good (if they do bring him back to direct).

Then you need to watch the 2003 Hulk. Or the two Fantastic 4 movies.
