<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>(June 1) - More than 30 journalists gathered in Denver on Friday to see a homemade video shot in 2003 that purportedly shows an alien peeping through a man's window. Resident Jeff Peckman, who held the press conference, argued that it showed definitive proof that Earth has been visited by alien life. "We believe this will be somewhat of an historic news conference," Peckman said. "We're very pleased to see this level of interest." The video was part of his campaign to get Denver to open an "Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission" to deal with encounters with aliens. The Denver Post reports that Stan Romanek shot the film at his Nebraska home in 2003 and has claimed more than 100 encounters with aliens, including abductions. The video shows a strange face popping up and looking into a window about 8-feet off the ground. The white, balloon-shaped head appears to have black eyes that seem to blink Romanek said he shot the film, which runs about 3 minutes in length, because he thought a peeping Tom was peering in at his teenage daughters. "If it was a puppet, it would be a very elaborate and sophisticated puppet," said Alejandro Rojas, education director of MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, according to the Post. Speaking at the conference, Rojas said preliminary research suggested that the film is authentic: "I don't believe they have the ability or the motivation to fabricate a hoax." Talking to MSNBC after the conference, Peckman said there is mounting evidence that aliens have visited Earth. "Collectively, it's all very convincing," he said, "but that (video) capped the experience." The film was not distributed to the journalists attending the conference.
