    There are also interesting tidbits in the article about GSP/Penn II, GSP/Silva, how much most of the fighters make in a year, his thoughts on the upcoming PPV, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, and more. Check it.

    Well from the article the news that will blow some people's minds will be revealed on Thursday. It apparently has to do with the direction of the UFC over the next 5 years.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>You have no idea some of the stuff that we have planned. I'm going to make an announcement next week that is going to blow people's minds. That deal is done, but my employees don't even know yet. I'm renting out a place next Thursday and I'm going to tell them. Then we'll make the announcement later that day. It's an indicator of where this business is going over the next five years.</div>

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It's so bad I can't even tell you. Then that show goes off. That guy he fought is a joke, and he went three rounds with Kimbo in a fight that shouldn't have been stopped. When the major media outlets would rather follow freak shows instead of real athletes, it's embarrassing. It just makes my life and job a whole lot harder. It's already been exposed. But getting that kind of coverage on ESPN, and BJ Penn doesn't? Everybody is so obsessed over who's going to take a chunk out of the UFC that those guys will get this kind of press coverage for no reason whatsoever. I think the show that happened on CBS the other day was a complete embarrassment for CBS and for the sport of mixed-martial arts. Urijah Faber is 145 pounds. He'll beat Kimbo Slice. Kimbo Slice sucks. He's terrible. If I had a heavyweight The Ultimate Fighter show, I don't think he'd win the show. And he's headlining a show on CBS?</div>

    lol @ Uriah beating Kimbo.

    Faber is a fricken MACHINE. i say pound for pound top 3 fighter in the world. I don't know if he could take Kimbo....buuuut he is definitely in better shape and is head and shoulders above him skill wise.

    Of course he could take Kimbo, easily. All Kimbo can do is stand up and punch, once he's one the ground, you saw that he sucks and he almost died at the end of his last match, couldn't even talk in the interview.

    GO UFC!!!!!!!!

    ^^ I would bet on Kimbo winning 75% of the time. He is too big, and too strong. Even if Faber got Kimbo on the ground he'd do some damage, but he would have a hard time, unless he got a submission. Kimbo might have had little takedown defense, but it was against a guy who was 265 pounds and could lift him off his feet to take him down. Uriah won't have the same ease in getting Kimbo down.

    ^^ What Mamba? Oh and I think a matchup that would be really tough for Kimbo would be Frank Mir and his submissions.

    Frank Mir would destroy Kimbo, especially since Mir wouldn't even have to worry about any take downs.
    Only was Mir would lose is if he got stupid and tried to strictly do stand up.. he's not bad, but I think he lacks KO power.

    as for the mind blowing news... Dana has said hype like that before.. and I've not been blown away.. I have heard though and sometimes been blown away... of course the first time he brought Wand into the cage to eyeball chuck.. it didn't happen until AFTER they bought out Pride over a year later...

    read the article.. here's my thoughts on what it may be

    If it truly is mind blowing;
    1. MMA has been sanctioned in NY and the UFC is coming to the Garden! That'd be huge for the UFC and the sport. Could backfire for the UFC if Affliction has a card there with Trump to promote it though. Remember the article mentioned him flying from and back to NY for meetings?

    2. They have a TV deal with Fox or ESPN.. please let it be Fox and not crappy ESPN. I don't need Screaming A. Smith criticizing GSP, calling him Frenchie

    3. They've signed a fighter who is a big name in the sport.. but most big names outside the UFC are signed.

    4. nothing as a fan comes to mind...

    If it's not so mind blowing;

    1. They have a deal with another corporate sponsor.. YAWN

    2. Randy Couture is coming back.. YAWN he's too damn old to matter beyone 1-2 fights.

    3. They're going to 'some country' for the first time or first time in ages (ie Brazil) now if it was Japan and cross promotion with Dream or WVR.. then maybe it'd be of interest.. but I doubt it. Doesn't matter to me, I'll be watching the fights on TV.

    4. TUF will not be in the states next year, but Europe.. I'm on the fence about that.

    5. They've bought out the IFL or they're making it a feeder league... there's like 4-5 guys of note in their entire roster so meh.

    any ideas on what it may be???

    Dana said he rented a conference hall to tell the fighters and staff the news. Odds are it is a TV deal, possibly the one with HBO that has been in negotiations forever.

    ^^ Nice list there Celtic Fan. I have no idea what it could be.

    My guess is either the UFC is going to work on Europe, or they got a TV deal. And it would be absolutely horrible if SAS or any ESPN lackey were involved in commentating for MMA. lol, but really I have no clue.

    The one thing I did like about the production of Elite XC on CBS was Gus Johnson, he's a familiar voice who knows when to by hyped (just listen to his famous March Madness calls) and he brought some professionalism to the commentating, which I would assume new viewers appreciated.

    So if it is a TV deal, having a 'known' commentator would be good, but have a good and known commentator would be great.

    I think the only reason Dana would rent out a hall and have everyone there is to mention a major network deal.

    CBS' ratings were through the roof with their garbage broadcast, I think Dana's eyes lit up with $$$ when he saw that.

    max would be great!!!

    I've always like his enthusiasm.. I wonder if he's a Boxing snob though.

    If it's Fox, please Don't let it be Joe Buck... OMG that would be worse than just about anything.
    Having Madden would make me LOL thought.. "you see that guy, he just steps in there and BOOM, right to the kidney" [IMG]

    Hahahaha, Madden would be perfect for 1 show a year. It would be really bad, but really funny.

    Madden: "I don't what that guy did there on the ground, but the guy on top was tapping someting fierce"

    Madden: "Once you're on the ground, aren't you considered tackled".. hear a whispering sound to John "You mean this isn't a Raiders team practice" [IMG]
