Let's say, this one guy, let's call him Yama, bets 100 dollars on the Celtics winning the series. Yama is a Laker fan, but he is betting against his own team, not because he doesn't think the Lakers will win, but because he thinks of it as a "consolation prize." If the Lakers win, he will have to pay 100 dollars, but he won't feel any pain in doing so since his team just won the championship. If the Lakers do win, naturally, he will be depressed, since the Lakers are his favorite team, but in return, he gets 100 dollars to spend on something, which should make him feel a bit better. Who doesn't like money? Just wondering, how would you guys feel about this situation? Is it smart?
Brian is a treacherous scumbag (j/k). That said, sorry about your $100 going to ****ing waste like that. :]
Never bet against your own team, it's a known rule among sports fans. C'mon Brian, you're better than that.
lol. It's a good dilemma that Brian brings up and I have thought about it myself. I'd probably say it depends. If you think that it's evenly matched go with your own team, just because then you won't be torn about it. If you think that your team is going to lose anyway, and the odds are right, then bet against your team, just so you won't feel so bad when they lose.
