Not like I'm a big fan of Shaq anyway. I hated the Lakers during the 3-peat, it's all about post-Shaq for me.
I want to see this thing investigated............Donaghy's singin like a bird...........misery loves company.......

You've gone back to your playbook of attempting to limit the discussion to a limited construct that you've created as a tangent to the main subject of a thread. You brought up the 2006 Heat unprovoked in a thread about refs fixing games and now you just want to talk about "fishy" reffed games. Sorry, you can't have it both ways.</div> You didn't make a great case in that thread, and now you just look bad focusing on a tangent. It doesn't matter if it was fixed or not, nor have I ever said it was. Your concept of "fishy" is limited. I use the term loosely, and since my JBB days I have never stated that series was fixed. </div> Again, you state that it doesn't matter if it was fixed or not, yet in a thread about fixing you decided to bring it up. Again, the implication of your words in the context of this thread completely contradict what you are claiming. But I'll let you get back to your complaining about officiating in one series and defending it another.
Listened to the Score's legal expert. He said unlike the MLB and NFL, the NBA has no anti-trust protection whatsoever, and as a result will be treated just like any other consumer fraud case. He said this will probably end up before Congress, and will be a Federal Case.

You're being narrow minded. I bring up Miami, because it was a more egregious series to me, and I thought it should get attention since people were talking about Foul Calls in Finals series (this isn't just a thread about fixed games, everyone is bitching about Foul Calls). You've got no case to make, I'm not even claiming that series was fixed, you're just complaining about my vocabulary.
all I know is this scandal is hotter than the finals right now, lol........Stern can't be happy about that.
I think Game 6 was pretty fishy. I'll admit that, as a Laker fan. But obviously at the time, I didn't complain about the calls (for obvious reasons). But just because something happened in the past does not mean we can't complain about the situation when it happens to us. Game 2 of the Finals this year was pretty suspect to me as well. Just because we got "favored" in a playoff game years ago does not take away my right to complain about the injustices of officiating today

http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Articles/BacherNaderNBA.htm ^^^here's an interesting article I found on game 6 <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>After noting that the three referees in Game 6 "are three of the best in the game, Wilbon wrote: "I have never seen officiating in a game of consequence as bad as that in Game 6....When Pollard, on his sixth and final foul, didn't as much as touch Shaq. Didn't touch any part of him. You could see it on TV, see it at courtside. It wasn't a foul in any league in the world. And Divac, on his fifth foul, didn't foul Shaq. They weren't subjective or borderline or debatable. And these fouls not only resulted in free throws, they helped disqualify Sacramento's two low-post defenders. And one might add, in a 106-102 Lakers' victory, this officiating took away what would have been a Sacramento series victory in 6 games." Nader went on, "Wilbon discounted any conspiracy theories about the NBA-NBC desire for a Game 7 etc., but unless the NBA orders a review of this game's officiating, perceptions and suspicions, however presently absent any evidence, will abound and lead to more distrust and distaste for the games in general." Nader also cited the basketball writer for USA Today, David Dupree, who said, "I've been covering the NBA for 30 years, and it's the poorest officiating in an important game I've ever seen." “When Wilbon writes that ‘The Kings and Lakers didn't decide this series …three referees did..’ when many thousands of fans, not just those in Sacramento, felt that merit lost to bad refereeing, you need to take notice beyond the usual and widespread grumbling by fans and columnists about referees ignoring the rule book and giving advantages to home teams and superstars," said Nader. Then Nader and McCarthy moved in "for the kill," addressing the nearly absolute power that the NBA wields over its players and fans. "Your problem in addressing the pivotal Game 6 situation is that you have too much power," said Nader. "Where else can decision-makers (the referees) escape all responsibility to admit serious and egregious error and have their bosses (you) fine those wronged (the players and coaches) who dare to speak out critically?" "You and your league have a large and growing credibility problem, Referees are human and make mistakes, but there comes a point that goes beyond any random display of poor performance. That point was reached in Game 6 which took away the Sacramento Kings Western Conference victory." "It seems that you have a choice. You can continue to exercise your absolute power to do nothing. Or you can initiate a review and if all these observers and fans turn out to be right, issue, together with the referees, an apology to the Sacramento Kings and forthrightly admit decisive incompetence during Game 6, especially in the crucial fourth quarter."</div>

I don't think there is some big conspiracy going on here, or that the NBA is rigged, but I do think that some of what Donaghy is claiming holds some merit, regarding the superstar players in particular. The NBA is a business first and foremost, they want to ensure the fan support is there, to make as much money as possible, how do you generate the fan support? By having the biggest names on show. I think refs tend to favour these big name players more than others (read into that comment as you will). I mean if the NBA was rigged, we would'nt have seen Atlanta take Boston to 7 games, I know that much.

Amazing to me how people can believe a source with no credibility just because its something they want to hear. Prove it and I'll believe it. "Donaghy heard" isn't good enough for me....
