You think no skill was involved?

A Pats fan reprimanding a coach. Nice!

Hate to break it to you, but he's more respected than Red since he's more relevant to the modern era of basketball. And they both had great players.

Phil had the best player ever known to mankind as well as the soon to be second best player. (well to me he is the second best ever)

What Red had, doesn't even come close to what Phil had. And thats without even including Shaq and Pippen.

Ramsey, Cousy, Sharman, Heinsohn, Russell, K. C. Jones, Havlicek, Sam Jones and Bailey Howell.
That's who he had. Defense wins championships. He had the Best defensive player ever.

Red played in a nine team league with multiple hall of famers. What was it, 7?

C'mon now, this comment is just ridiculous.

Even those players considered "the greatest" need help around them too. Basketball is a team game after all, from the Coach, right down to the guys on the bench, it takes a team effort to win.

I don't think there's a guarantee that Kobe become the player he is today without Jackson's coaching.

So... has anyone actually seen tapes or looked at the stats of those "Hall of Famers"? Pretty much the only reason they got into HoF was because they were a part of that legendary franchise. Those Celtic teams had 2 great players: Bill Russell and Bob Cousy.
Also, you can't dismiss the fact that the first championship team had only 1 thing in common with the last one: Bill Russell, a very AGING Bill Russell.

CK, downplaying Phil Jackson is just dumb. Players win titles when they play for him. Maybe he's not the greatest X's and O's guy, but as a motivator and a COACH (not a strategist), he's one of the absolute best.

    That was funny.

Phil Jackson will need 2 more threepeats to be successfully compared to Red the COACH.
In terms of overall accomplishments, there will NEVER be anyone who can even be mentioned in the same sentence as him.

    Seriously, read Red's wiki profile.

Ew, what a lame diss. I have no idea what you're talking about, he's already compared to Red now, whether you agree with it or not. That's the point of my statement ("Hate to break it to you"). Because of the era he coached in, people will probably remember Phil more. It has to do with Media exposure.

As for Championships, I'm not that impressed by Red having to win 12 playoff games in a 8-14 team league.

Red is such a great coach, that the Celtics won twice without him in 68/69 after he retired (using a certain player/coach in those other years)... :]

This thread is about the 2002 WC Finals, not who is a greater coach Red vs. PJax. It's easy to make another thread about that if it's going to take up 20 posts.

Nice to see that David Stern is finally taking these allegations seriously. He must have realized that his dictatorship doesn't reach out past the realm of the NBA.

He needs to resign from his position, and they need to change it to something where the GMs would vote for the commissioner every 4 or 8 years max.

Just fire all the refs, hire new ones, and dont pay them as much as the last ones.

    Honestly, they are replaceable.

Yea, the refs don't even need to be paid, they can find other ways to make money like Donaghy (sp?).

Hopefully the next set of allegations from Donaghy involve Violet Palmer.
