Almost sounds like another Zoran Planinic. And then somewhere in the world, cpaw jolted out of his slumber.

Kiki has scouted Gallinari at least twice. I am sure that Rob Meurs, the chief international scout, has seen him a lot more than that. They have reviewed tapes, etc. This is almost always the final step. Nets also attended a private workout for Sean Williams last year. It's not shocking. As of now, he has scheduled two workouts: the Nets and Knicks. After that, he will make a decision whether to do more. What does that mean? He wants a guarantee. Who's his agent? Daivd Falk, who has a tendency to get what he wants. As for how he plays, there is video of him on YouTube, which has a search button by the way. He isn't Zoran. He isn't Manu Ginobili either. He is a 6'10" point forward and looking at his body compared to that of other 19 year olds in the draft, he is a lot more physically mature than most of the younger players in the draft. He is not the stringbean that Jordan, McGee, Randolph and Green are. He is also the son of a professional athlete and that counts. Take a look at the Lakers: Walton, son of Bill; Farmar, son of Dodger Ron Farmar, Bryant, son of Jellybean. They all developed faster, were more mature quicker. He knows what to expect. Besides he has been a professional himself for four years.

I've yet to see him play, but kobi's description makes him sound like Andrea Bargnani as a 2/3 instead of a 4/5.
I've seen highlights of him before. I like him. Needs to add some weight and he seems a little slow, but he can finish, can shoot and probably play 1-4. He's definetly not soft.
He also brings an intense passion for the game, he could be the team leader in only a couple of seasons. the only other player eligible for this draft who seems like he could do that is Psycho T.

Anyway, I'm slowly starting to like Gallinari more and more, and I hope he falls to #10 somehow. He can definitely be our next franchise PG, maybe not as good as Kidd or even Starbury, but should become a more than solid starter in a couple of years. I wouldn't even be against letting him play in Europe for another season, in order to improve and gain experience. If we pick him, Harris becomes expendable OR we can use Harris as a 2, since Danilo isn't nearly athletic enough to play the 2 in this league. Plus, he's an excellent fit for Brooklyn. Remind me who said that the people of Brooklyn wouldn't relate to Italians?
I think of Gallinari as more of a SF, but he gives us interesting options. He, VC, and DH can seemingly play any position 1-3, besides DH at the 3. Giving us the ability to make plenty of mismatches from the other team. Harris will be faster than whoever he's against, and either Vince or Danilo (or both) would be bigger than whoever they're against.
A point forward would be a good thing to pair with Devin Harris as Devin isn't going to be a pure point and is going to need someone in a half court set that can facilitate ball movement . Vince will be able to do that for now.
He sounds nothing like Zoran. Belinelli sounded like a Zoran, Danilo could be another Lamar Odom type guy.

Does DD's comparison of Danilo to Odom sound right?
The comparison I have heard most is Tony Kukoc. And I agree with cpawfan...a point forward (Gallinari or Randolph but more so Gallinari) would work very well in the Nets' offense. Please don't trash Bargnani, because I think there is a possibility he will be wearing a Nets uniform on October 31.
