<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Orlando Magic center Adonal Foyle, who served as the backup to Dwight Howard last season, is expected to exercise an option later this week to become an unrestricted free agent.
Foyle, 33, would be leaving behind the $1.26 million that the Magic would have paid him next season under the original two-year contract he signed on Aug. 24, 2007.

"I can only speculate at this point, but I would anticipate him opting out now," said Magic General Manager Otis Smith. "He's playing behind the best [Howard] , and he may want to see what other opportunities are out there."</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"I don't think Adonal's decision is a reflection on us because he's said he loves it here," Smith said. "But I'm sure he also sees Tony (Battie) in the gym every day, and he's wondering what opportunities there will be for him. He's a salt-of-the-earth type of guy, and you can't ever have too many Adonal Foyles on your team. We'd still like to have him back."</div>

What's the point of opting out? Unless he wants a different team and situation, I don't foresee him getting any more money than what he already is. For one, because he's getting old, and two, he's simply not worth it.

Foyle is not very good at basketball anymore. First off, he has NO offensive ability what so ever. When he scored it always looked all weird and hunky junky, absolute garbage player. Defensively he's to short to be a good shot blocker and struggles to guard bigger guys, has no speed or athleticism, and is just old. I can't tell you how many times this dude was just running around out there doing nothing of use. It got so bad, that in the playoffs we went to rookie Marcin Gortat, who is not a good player but better than him. Any other team would be completely stupid to give him more than a million dollars, and even dumber to let him play more.

Yeah, he was never that skilled but he's always been professional and a good teammate. Not to mention he is one of the best interviews around. He's the only NBA player who can do an interview and not talk about basketball at all yet keep people interested. He's a really smart guy. I'd love to see him retire, come back to the Bay Area and get involved in local politics.
