Im taking these snippets from 2 separate stories.....1st, CBS Sportsline is reporting that 9 potential buyers, all pre-approved by MLB, recieved a copy of the Cubs books today....thats interesting by itself, but what makes it really interesting is that the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting independently that Cuban got the books from the Cubs....does that mean that MLB has pre-approved him? I think Mark Cuban is going to own the Cubs....
Doesn't the NBA have a rule than an owner cannot own another professional sports team in a different city? It may be the NFL but I'm sure 1 of the major sports has that rule.
That doesn't appear to be a Cuban type of situation. He purchased the Mavs knowing that he could improve ticket sales and income. He built his other businesses up. The Cubs are in a situation where they can't significantly improve their revenue stream and it is going to take a premium to purchase them.
I dont think Cuban is into sports for the money....he wants to win championship hardware to put on his mantle....remember, Cuban is not a traditional business man, he made his money on the internet and hes swimming in cash....

Paying a ton of money for the Cubs in a competitive bid situation for a team with generally maxed out revenue streams isn't in his profile. Additionally, Chicago's other MLB owner doesn't like him and would never let Cuban get approved.
Like I mentioned above, if he got the books, he must already be approved....there may not be too many ways to increase the Cubs revenue streams, but they do have existing revenue.....its not like they dont already make a profit....I do believe Cuban would lose a certain ammount of money if he thought it would help his team win....

Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox? Jerry Reinsdorf? http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/jerry_reinsdorf.html 1st paragraph of the bio. -Petey
