Please S2 people, vote what you think and discuss. I need all the help I can get in trying to get to the rock bottom of the Nuggets situation. (I am being very nice calling it a situation instead of something else I could call it.) You can pick any number of reasons in the 1st question, but you must pick all the ones you want at one time; you only get one shot.
If you read the 2nd question right after I first posted this poll and you thought it had a big error in it you were right. The error is now corrected, and fortunately it seems that no one voted before it was fixed. Remember, you can pick any number of reasons in the 1st question, but you must pick all the ones you want at one time; you only get one shot. You look at the big markets getting new coaches, like New York, Chicago, and Dallas, and Denver seems a little too small these days to be able to ever compete for the NBA title. I picked 4 of the reasons, but my #1 would be the Denver market reason. Think it over, take your time, let me know. Thanks for all votes and all discussion.
I voted that the owner sucks; and that Karl is smart as hell. I also voted that it'd be another 1st round exit, but I think Karl is gonna be fired before the season is over. Just a hunch

Suck on that!</div> And if you think that the 1st question doesn't really allow a good answer for those who think Karl has gotten a total bum rap, you are right. That's because the first question is for those who have concluded that Karl is a lost cause as far as winning in the playoffs is concerned. So if you disagree with the premise, you either don't vote or else you could pick the 1st one because that one is the least critical toward Karl I think. I hate to say it, but I personally think hell will freeze over before Karl wins a playoff series again. I think in the 1990's he used to be sharper than he is now; he's not as good as he used to be, probably due to health reasons. He makes too many decisions as if he is a scared rabbit these days. For example, he grossly exaggerated the shortcomings and unusual style of little old J.R. Smith, and thereby put a stranglehold on the Nuggets chances both in 2006-07 and this past season by, among other things, not playing him enough and by assuming Smith can hardly play defense at all. So the Nuggets were left with a midget backcourt for way too many minutes and just about the worst guard defending in the NBA, with inadequate 3-point shooting and so forth. Poor Mr. Karl ended up paying a big price for his faulty evaluation of J.R. Smith because, even though he will apparently not be fired by the Nuggets, he still goes down in history now as one of the worst playoff coaches among all coaches with long head coach careers. All because Smith was too odd for Karl to deal with! Had Karl been able to win at least 8 playoff games in 4 years instead of just 3, which he could have done if he had gotten Smith and the backcourt overall right, he could have just barely avoided the label "One of the Worst Playoff Coaches Ever."
Karl is just tight with the owners, and knows what to say. He will probably be gone after his contract is up. Denver has stuck with him this long, they will probably just wait it out. I honestly don't think there is one person in the front office or on the team who is dedicated to winning. They have the most talented team in the league, but lack the personnel and dedication to play the right way. Hopefully AI opts out and signs with a contender.

So big deal, they achieved those things. Whoo hoo. The average man on the street could probably achieve those things, actually. As a fan, I need more than those things to be impressed with a front office/owner.
I'm looking for more votes. Don't let George "I don't know how to conquer playoff basketball" Karl and his assistants depress you to the point where you don't even want to think about the Nuggets anymore. And you don't have to "know" the answer, because almost no one actually knows it. Just give me your best opinion, please. But I will run the poll at 2-3 other places too and report the total results from time to time. This poll will be monitored through about the end of August.
From the guy who predicted Boston over Los Angeles in the NBA finals back in early March... The Nuggets will not make the playoffs next season. All six of the following teams will make the playoffs: Lakers: Obviously Spurs: Still not old enough to miss the playoffs. Rockets: Adelman, Yao, McGrady make it a 100% certainty. Mavericks: New Coach will mostly or totally make up for a relatively bad trade. Jazz: One of the very best teams in the NBA in theory. Suns: Still a playoff team despite the bad trade. And 2 of the following 3 teams will make the playoffs: Hornets: One Chris Paul injury away from being in big trouble. Trail Blazers: Oden's arrival almost but not quite guarantees a playoff spot. Warriors: Don Nelson will not finish behind George Karl, who only seems to be getting worse every year, for two years in a row. The Nuggets will simply not make the playoffs and we already know that the Denver front office and the owner won't really care that much, given how little they cared about this year's collapse.
