So supposedly the big announcement was going to be Dana saying MMA is being sanctioned in New York, largely due to efforts put forward by the UFC and its fans. The committee for Tourism, Arts, and Sports Development of New York had a vote today on legislating MMA in the state, a vote which was going to pass with flying colours--except it didn't. The bill was picked up and the committee will vote again next week, hence the delay in Dana's big news. If it is voted down this would be a big embarrassment for Dana, who promised to "rock the MMA world" tomorrow. This is all just a theory, though. Credit to every MMA website going as they've all picked up on this story.
Yeah, I think that would be best. Fox and ESPN, I think, would be too worried about to much violence.
I agree BM. Could it be that UFC is coming with a channel of their own? (like nba has nbatv) That would be cool. 24 hrs of MMA.
MMA in New York would be huuuuge. I can see it now, the Octagon in the middle of the Garden. Its a nice image but doesn really matter to me seeing how I live on the west coast and all....
With the explosion of the sport, I don't get how the vote got turned down.. freakin' politics. A HBO TV deal would suck.. because I don't get HBO Canada has a great channel called The Fight Network, loads of MMA, K-1 some boxing and unfortunately some wrasslin' too. Too bad they can't get a deal with the UFC to show some of their content though. I think the UFC could do a fight channel. They have all the UFC's, all of Pride's fight library, WEC content, TUF and I'm sure they would show TapOut's reality show too. Heck I'd want that channel just for the Pride and WEC content.
Looks like the NY news wasn't Dana's special announcement after all. http://www.fightline.com/news/2008/611/dan...te_326777.shtml
I hope he's blowing smoke on the TV deal... I REALLY hope he's not creating a stir over 'whoop-dee-damn-doo ' news either.
The big rumour now is as follows... The UFC has created their own premier channel to broadcast all of their material including PPV's, like a MMA version of HBO. Aside from The Ultimate Fighter and other shows for Spike, everything will be broadcast on the new channel, including the WEC.

I've read about the 1st one on several sites.. sounds like speculation, but with the WEC, Pride, TUF and all of the UFC's library in hand it's plausible. Heck even that TapOut show would most likely be on. the 2nd rumor.. is well boring really.
was supposed to be yesterday but it's been moved back to Tuesday.. we'll have to wait and see if it's moved back again...
dude, I've been bouncing around trying to acquire information on MMA sites, reading all of the rampant speculations.. it's KILLING me to wait this long if Dana ain't lying the TV channel makes the most sense, I just wonder how long it'd take to show up in Canada and more specifically on Videotron
