But there was someone like Yi last year demanding that he be drafted in a highly Asian populated area or else there was no chance he would be coming to the NBA. Well the Bucks took him anyway and he came. I'm pretty sure if the Nets passed on him at 10 teams wouldn't be scared of him saying where he would like to play. So I don't understand what all the commotion is about.
if Gallinari was available at the 10 spot... there is no way the nets pass up on him, hes worth the risk at the 10 pick, and kiki and rod are in love with players that understand how to play the sport... its not bout the flash of the person (dunks and put backs) but its solid fundamental players they go after. and like what someone else said, lawrence frank plays guys with high IQ... why do you think jason collins got so many freaking minutes

He gets mad alley-oops and dunks!

It can only be used to acquire players from other teams. Per Mr. Larry Coon: There are some common misconceptions about non-simultaneous trades. For one, teams cannot use a Traded Player exception to sign free agents; it can be used only to acquire existing contracts from other teams. For another, teams cannot combine a Traded Player exception with other exceptions (such as the Mid-Level exception or the 125% plus $100,000 margin from another trade) in order to trade for a more expensive player. For example, a team with a $1 million Traded Player exception cannot combine it with their $2 million player to trade for a $3 million player (see question number 72 for more information on combining exceptions).</div> Ah, thanks. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>At 40? Psht. Undrafted Free Agent, baby!</div> #1_Yinka_Dare_Fan and GMJigga suggested something else. Does Gallinari have to enter the NBA through the draft? Couldn't the Nets just sign him outright with their MLE through free agency. I don't think Jorge Garbojosa ever entered his name in the draft but came into the NBA as a free agent. Whats the rule here? Also, what would be the maximum the Nets could sign Gallinari as a second round pick anyways? </div> I believe once you are 22 you are automatically entered into the draft. After that you are fair game for Free Agency.

If I have a mid 1st round pick in a deep draft I wouldn't waste it on a player that may not even come play for me. I'm waiting for the day that an agent goes and gets an offer from a big European team for his US college player and uses that offer to dictate where his client wants to go in the draft.

Then the Nets could use part of their MLE or maybe their LLE to sign? If he were picked 10th by the Nets he would make around 2.1 million. There is also the LLE right? That should around under 2 million? Or sign him with the MLE for around 3 million for his role in scaring off the other teams? The Knicks don't have a 2nd round pick this year. But they could always buy one before the Nets could pick in the 2nd round. It's kind of a far out plan but come on Kiki and Thorn, be creative! Make Gallinari unappealing to other teams so he falls to the Nets.

We actually have room to spend some money now that Kidd is off the books.
