He talks about how every officer stereotypes blacks, but isn't he doing the same thing when it comes to cops. Complete hypocrite. </div> Why do you say he treats every cop like a piece of garbage? The undercover cop pulled out a gun for no reason and didn't identify himself. I still don't see how Jones was wrong for anything. </div> Besides acting like a 12 year old in public and berating a police officer who was assaulted by one of his bodygaurds, Jim Jones did absolutely nothing wrong. </div> Jones' bodyguard told the officer/fan not to take pictures. He was not assaulted. The officer had no right to pull out a gun, especially without identifying himself. I think there should be more criticism of this, especially considering the Sean Bell incident, which is still a sensitive issue here in New York. Jim Jones said "do me like Sean Bell" to show his frustration for doing his job improperly. Instead of focusing on Jim Jones, why not focus on the real issue - yet another policeman not performing his duty properly. </div> 1. Jones' bodygaurd grabbed the face of the officer and shoved him according to police reports. That is assault on a police officer. 2. Rappers paint a picture of cops in their music to sell records and make money, and it not only demonizes the police, but it also worsens the already sensitive relationship between the Black community and the Police department. </div> Obviously there are conflicting reports about it. Jones’ camp says the bodyguard did no wrong. But that’s irrelevant. Regardless, the officer was in the wrong for not showing his I.D. Plain and simple. That’s the real issue at hand. By focusing on Jim Jones “acting like a 12-year-old” you’re really missing the point. The Sean Bell incident is far from “resolved”. There are numerous people in New York City- Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, etc. - who are still outraged by the results of the case. Mayor Bloomberg himself said “I can tell you that it is to me unacceptable or inexplicable how you can have 50-odd shots fired.” The Sean Bell case is still very much an issue today. In the case of Jim Jones the policeman wrongfully pulled out a gun without identifying himself - just like in the Sean Bell case. If you say the black community already has a “sensitive relationship” with the police, how does it get any better if a policeman fails to do his job properly (again)? </div> . The police report stated the officer was assualted. If you don't want to believe that, fine, but if the officer was not grabbed by the bodygaurd, then what prompted him to pull out his gun? BTW, none of the officers who shot Sean Bell and his associates had ever discharged their weapons in the line of duty before. Put yourself in that position. Are they supposed to stop for 20 seconds, think, "OK, I think this guy might have a gun. Am I authorized to use deadly force? I never used this weapon before in real life, where do I shoot, when do I stop?" They don't have time for that reaction. Make no mistake, the Sean Bell shooting was a tragic situation. But law enforcement is a dangerous job. In New York these cops risk their heads to protect the community. People like Jim Jones demonize them as racist, trigger-happy pigs, when all they want to do is perform their job and make it home that night to their families. And you know, I don't think the police should have any kind of blank check to do whatever they want either. But for this idiot Jim Jones to act tough and bring up Sean Bell shows him as completely immature.

People like Jim Jones demonize them as racist, trigger-happy pigs, when all they want to do is perform their job and make it home that night to their families. </div> Even if the police report is accurate, there was nothing Jones' bodyguard did to warrant a gun being pulled out. The undercover officer was taking pictures, his bodyguard told him to stop, and he didn't want to. The bodyguard gave him a "shove" and the officer responded by pulling out a gun, which he pointed in Jones' direction. As for the Sean Bell case, I, numerous New Yorkers, and the Mayor still believe 50 shots at three unarmed suspects is excessive. I also don't believe there was reasonable evidence to assume the men were armed. But in the case above, the officer was not being threatened in a way which warrants pulling out a weapon. The officer who pulled out his gun on Jones and his entourage made an egregious mistake. A mistake which made others feel as if their lives were being jeopardized. I don't think Jones was wrong for expressing frustration at the heat of the moment. And I don't remember Jones bringing race into the issue. You accuse rappers of demonizing the police, when in all actuality the police demonize themselves by failing to perform their duties properly. Cases like Sean Bell, the incident above, and the plethora of other incidences in the past (Abner Louima, Amadou Diallo etc.) further demonize the police.
I'm completely with MrJ on this one. How is Jim Jones in anyway not a victim here? You HAVE to identify yourself as an undercover officer. How was Jones supposed to know the guy wasn't just some psycho. And to say he acted like a little bitch? Have any of you who said that ever had a gun pull out on you? I'm sure you'd still be real tough guys, right? As for that "cop killer" song, it has little to nothing to do with this incident, and don't you guys know that it was a heavy metal song from the band Body Count before it was a rap song? I'm not defending the song, but I just think that if you guys knew that beforehand, it'd change your perspectives a bit, sadly.
