I love it, and I want to know if there are enough people here who own it to have an online league.

I don't really care about playing one-off games online, but I think a league would be fun.

I waz thinking about getting it, cause I really want a soccer game and this one got some good reviews. I really want a game with all the squads tho, this one only has the ones competing in the Euro cup.

There's plenty of content, though, and it's not full-price.

I'm American. I don't know all those club teams anyway. I've barely heard of half of the international stars! (Although I can't wait for FIFA 2009 if it's anything like this game.)

I know nothing about soccer really but wanted to get a soccer game too. What is the difference between this in FIFA?

Slightly better gameplay but FAR less teams and players.

I loved the last game for XBox, so I got this one and it is awesome. It's the best soccer game I've ever played. It's hard, but not frustrating, and it's not repetitive (wing, cross, header, zzzzzz). I've scored some crazy goals (which I just learned you can upload to the website!)

In old soccer games, the players felt like they controlled themselves and I was just helping them, but in this game it feels like they can do anything.

And of course the graphics, presentation and amount of content is excellent. The sound is unreal. Even the announcers are great.

I guess Imma get it, but you have to have the same console to play an online league?

Never did it. I'm trying to get better. This is the first time I even qualified for the finals.

I just thought a league with the people from here sounded fun.

To be honest, I think the game is decent at best. Same style as FIFA of course, which is alright, but they don't even have all licenses (most notably the Dutch, shamefully). Not that it is a huge deal, but since I can't mod the game on a PS3, I don't find it useful. The only thing I praise this game for is that the qualification for the tournament itself is unique for an action play football game since you can choose any nations in Europe to play with.

For those of you unfamiliar with the EA Sports soccer titles, let me give you a quick run through. They are fun to play for a while, but players run on rails. This means the game is not fluid like reality, something this game advertises itself to be the best at and definitely isn't. When you run through a long tournament or season you're rewarded to points and basically the shittiest celebration you can possibly imagine for a soccer title. Basically players jumping about for ten seconds and the commentators telling you as "viewers" that the team or club has won the trophy.

Commentary itself is excellent. They hardly ever mess up on calls and say most if not all of the players' names. To be honest here, I will play whatever game is more exciting to me. I started playing soccer games long before I actually became a fan of the sport and what really got me into things was Pro Evolution (Winning Eleven). If you want to start with a soccer game, start with Pro Evolution 2008 for a current gen console. The graphics are decent at best, but the gameplay is incredibly smooth and very lifelike. There is so much more depth to what goes on the pitch compared to FIFA that no matter how long you play you'll find new skills to learn.

Scoring a goal in Pro Evo feels great because you know you work hard for it because the AI is stellar. FIFA AI is good on the opposite team, but on your end the players are dumb as posts. They'll often stand around and do nothing even if a player with possession of the ball has just approached them. It really pisses you off sometimes because you'll hold down the button for AI assistance, but a player from way back in the defense will run after the player with possession of the ball instead of the midfielder or forward as I mentioned before. You feel like you have to control the entire game. Slide tackles are far too easy to win in FIFA as well. You basically just line up a player who just basically storms straight at you. Usually there is no foul even if you upend the guy illegally. In Pro Evo, if you don't time your slide perfectly, you're going to see a yellow card or even a red. Something that feels more realistic again.

I own both FIFA 08 and Pro Evolution 2008, so I'm easily able to compare. The thing you may not like about Pro Evo is that the English Premiership isn't licensed, but you can edit most of the teams and their uniforms. Unlike FIFA, which has a very childlike and super easy manager mode, in Pro Evo there is the Master League. You can choose to either take control of a team of your choice in the game, or create one from scratch. Every detail is editable, right down to the crowd chants and supporter colors in the crowd to the captain's armband and number/lettering style.

Te next gen version of Pro Evo is decent at best with good gameplay (better then FIFA anyway), with such realistic features like shirt pulling and even diving! The only real let down about Pro Evo in general is that it has a horrendous online mode. Horrendous meaning it is choppy as hell. So if you play online only, stay away from Pro Evo and stick with FIFA. The choice is yours, I'm just helping you out if you're not familiar with these games.
