If the Lakers look to move Odom for a more traditional SF with Bynum returning, perhaps they would be interested in a swap for RJ. He's a better shooter than Odom, and would be a nice secondary option for them on the wing. salaries work too. Then I wonder what it would take to get Mike Miller from Memphis. We'd probably need to take Cardinal back as well, and give them a big and a pick maybe. Krstic+21+Hassell+Swift for Miller+Cardinal works, but I'm not sure if they'd want Swift back, and Hassell doesn't save them much over Cardinal. So I think we'd have to work in another team, send them Marcus, Swift and Hassell for a big the other team doesn't need and doesn't want to pay, also wants a point. Those are pretty hard to come by, though, unless Memphis wants Curry, Nene, Diaw, Troy Murphy, Blount or NaZr, providing their teams would be willing to move them. If we could though, we'd be pretty well set for now.

Harris/Miller/Carter/Odom/Boone, with SWat and #10(Westbrook?) off of the bench. We'd also have the MLE and maybe Boki or Diop as well.

Memphis has not reason to move Miller. They have plenty of draft picks and cap space. Unless we are going to throw a quality young player at them that fills a need.

Odom isn't that good. I don't really want a guy that disappears like that in the playoffs.

Miller doesn't even seem attainable [IMG]

Trade Vince Carter to the Lakers for Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza

Trade for Mike Miller...not sure what the moving pieces would be...probably including Dallas pick and our 2009 first rounder.

Let Nenad go or S&T him.

    Draft best available SG...imo Budinger.

    PG: Devon Harris, Marcus Williams
    SG: Mike Miller, Chase Budinger
    SF: Richard Jefferson, Trevor Ariza
    PF: Lamar Odom, Sean Williams
    C: Josh Boone, Desanga Diop

The great part being that Odom, RJ and Mike Miller would all have there contracts expire given us over 30 million in cap space for Lebron and possibly Wade...

    Imagine a 2011 team featuring

    PG: Devin Harris, Marcus Williams
    SG: Dwayne Wade, Chase Budinger
    SF: Lebron James, Trevor Ariza
PF: Sean Williams, FA signing/2010 draft pick
    C: Josh Boone, Desanga Diop</div>

Odom's contract is up at the end of next year. There was talk that his agent wants 6 years / $90M. Lakers fans are spurning that saying that he's basically their 4th best player (behind Bryant, Pau and Bynum), thus there is no reason for him to make that much money.
If he comes to a team like New Jersey, chances are he will want that $15M / year contract.

Basically, you're leasing a decent big man for one year and then using him as an expiring contract.

Is that what you're thinking of? I think we can get something better for RJ.

Well, if you guys trade for Odom, I think the most attractable asset about him is that he has a 14 million expiring contract after next season. That's 14 million off the books next offseason, which could help you guys attain a highly touted free agent, or you guys could just save it and wait for Lebron...

    Also, aren't you guys rebuilding?

Odom was more effective when he played in the Eastern conference because he could get away with playing the PF tradition. When he slides down to SF on the Lakers he loses his advantage of using his quickness to get by the defender. He doesn't have it in him to post up smaller players and it often results in a charge because of his poor footwork and inability to finish with his right hand.

I'm not sure how Odom would fit in with the Nets, but if they want to play an open court uptempo style he'd be perfect. Odom reminds me of those street ball type players on the basketball court who look great in a casual game, but when you put him in an organized league against fundamentally sound teams all his flaws get exposed.

how about instead of odom and miller... we aim for kapono and brand... #10 + #40 + RJ + krstic for Brand, expiring contract for kapono and possible future 2nd round...

Can Kapono make his own shot, like Miller?
Does Kapono have Miller's awesome hair?

umm i dont think mike miller can play SG... hes too slow... he would have to play the SF on D and play for SG on offense... i dont even think jefferson can guard the 2... like vs a monte ellis, or a joe johnson, or ray allen, kobe? wade? all these guys are a lot faster than miller... and jefferson [IMG]

I like Odom a lot but he doesn't make the Nets a contender.

The Nets would be paying him a lot of money while rebuilding. Please no Carter jokes.

kapono is cheaper than miller... and we don't need kapono to make his own shot... we just need people to hit OPEN shots. that was our problem for years when kittles left

Well, his contract comes off the books after next season. You guys would get an added 14 million off the books next offseason

If you guys would rather, maybe we could go a defensive route, RJ for AK47, then Marcus, Krstic, Swift for Artest, and take Westbrook and Rush in the draft.

    Harris/Westbrook
    Carter/Hassell
    Artest/Rush
    Kirilenko/Williams
    Boone/Diop?

get more athletic, and almost everyone on the team is known for defense.

ak would get eaten up alive vs 4's... he wouldnt be able to play vs KG, duncan, amare, even al horf from atl, or chris bosh?

ak and artest can play great D on 2-3's in the nba... vs 4's... they will get manhandled... but its just an opinion [IMG]
