<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams expects the club to unveil their new manager by the end of the week.

Six candidates have been interviewed to succeed Mark Hughes, who left Rovers for Manchester City on 5 June.

MK Dons manager Paul Ince, former Bolton and Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce and ex-England coach Steve McClaren are believed to be among the front-runners.

"The process is still on-going and we are on target for the end of this week," said Williams.

Former Ewood Park favourite Alan Shearer ruled himself out of the running, while another potential candidate, former Chelsea assistant coach Henk ten Cate, has taken over at Greek club Panathinaikos.

"We are not going rush anything, the most important thing is that we get the right man for the job," said Williams.

One of the new manager's first responsibilities will be to sort out David Bentley's future at Blackburn after the midfielder said he wanted to leave the club.

Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa are leading the chase for the ?15m-rated England international. "Mark Hughes and I had a meeting with David before the end of the season and he said he wanted to test himself at a higher level," said Williams.

"Mark said to him it would be in both our best interests if he stayed for another year.

"We will not discuss this until the new manager is in place. He may come in and say we should sell this player or that one.

"The one thing the new manager can expect is exactly that degree of backing that we gave to Mark Hughes."</div>

McClaren would be my choice, and Allardyce wouldn't be bad either.

I'm gonna have to go with Big Sam, I never liked McClaren.

McClaren is a hack. Would be a huge step backwards. The wally with a brolly.

Allardyce would be the safe bet, as Blackburn are similar to his successful Bolton teams in many ways. Completely different proposition to Newcastle and much more suited to his managerial strengths.
