They need to play those countries to get into the WC?</div> Honduras are currently the only team in CONCACAF qualification for the World Cup 2010 that have made it through to round three. They defeated Puerto Rico 6-2 on aggregate. In round three they will be joined by three other teams which will depend on who wins their matches to get through on aggregate as well. Mexico lead over Belize 2-0 after the first leg (match) Jamaica lead over Bahamas 7-0 after the first leg (match) Canada lead over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 3-0 after the first leg (match) All likely, Honduras will be joined by Mexico, Jamaica and Canada. In this case, they will all face each other in round three in group 2. There are three groups all together. This is what I predict the groups will look like for round three. Group 1 Cuba Guatemala Trinidad and Tobago USA Group 2 Canada Honduras Jamaica Mexico Group 3 Costa Rica Netherlands Antilles Panama Suriname I was wrong before though, I forgot that the top two from each of these three groups must first go through to the fourth and final round. The top three of the six in round four will go on automatically to the 2010 World Cup finals. The fourth placed team will face the fifth placed CONMEBOL team and all likely be devastated. My predictions .. 01 Mexico 02 USA 03 Honduras 04 Guatemala 05 Costa Rica 06 Panama If my predictions are right, Honduras will make it through and Guatemala will be destroyed by Uruguay. lol

Trinidad and Tobago defeated Bahrain 2-1 on aggregate. Uruguay were unlucky in 2006 because they had to face Australia when they were in the OFC (now AFC) and barely lost to the Aussies on penalties in Sydney. 1-1 on aggregate, both teams scoring home goals. PK result being 4-2 to the Socceroos.

They'll have to work through a tough group in the next stage though. Canada, Honduras, Jamaica and Mexico is a hell of a group for CONCACAF standards. The group of death I suppose. Canada have shown a lot of promise, but relations between the Canadian FA and the players hasn't been good so I wonder if that may affect the overall performance down the stretch. What about you, Chutney, what do you think?

The CSA (Canadian Soccer Association) has been f'ing things up for a while now. Its such an incompetent organization that never fully supports the people who can take us to the next level, messes up financially, and falls into bickering/in-fighting all the time. We've been lucky that our professional teams (TFC, Vancouver Whitecaps, Montreal Impact) have grown. They've built solid training facilities for young prospects and are really establishing a good developmental system from the bottom-up. They've also taken a lot of the work away from the CSA's influence which is always good.

I hopped into this thread way too late, so I'll respond to most everything at once: For the game itself, 8-0 seems about right. The US was really going for it for about twenty minutes when they were up 3-0. The rest of the game was mostly tacking on from there. There was solid effort by the US there, but it wasn't like the start of the game. For the whole of CONCACAF qualifying, I don't see Honduras making it into the hex. The final six will be USA, Guatemala, Mexico, Canada, Panama, and Costa Rica. USA, Mexico, and Canada get the top three and move on to the World Cup. Costa Rica get the fourth spot and lose to the COMEBOL team. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bynumite @ Jun 16 2008, 11:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>For some reason Mexico always seems to lose to Argentina, I pretty much hate them already but they always beat us. Especially last year when we had the lead and we still lost to them 2-1. I haven't seen much of anything from Mexico, even when Sven starts coaching them, that would make me think they can beat the US. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MainEvent @ Jun 17 2008, 08:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Why isn't Ben Olson in the team? Is he injured or something?</div> He is injured. According to Steve Goff, there's bone and cartilege issues and cysts in his ankle. It would be career threatening. I also don't think he ever figured too prominently in Bob Bradley's plans and didn't pick up too many caps as he had a lot of injury trouble. And that's about it. M, what do you think of Jozy Altidore?
The USA play very well against Mexico at home, but not at foreign venues. Actually, the USA play well at home against just about any team, period. Mexico on the other hand play fairly well no matter where they are and against anyone. History shows how good Mexico are. The US' record against Mexico all-time is 15-29-10. Since 2000, they have gone 9-2-2, but a majority of those wins have been at home. Not that I'm against the USA team in any way, I am a supporter. I just believe this time out Mexico will likely top them in the final round for WC 2010 qualification. We'll have to wait and see. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (agoo101284 @ Jun 17 2008, 07:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>M, what do you think of Jozy Altidore?</div> He has the potential to be a great striker for a mid-level Prem club or be a third or fourth option in another one of the big European leagues. Bradley is still the best prospect from the US at the moment.
