Officer kills man who beat child to death <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>TURLOCK, Calif. - Police killed a 27-year-old man as he kicked, punched and stomped a toddler to death despite other people's attempts to stop him on a dark, country road, authorities said. Investigators on Sunday were trying to establish the relationship between the suspect and the child they say he killed Saturday night. The Stanislaus County coroner said the boy appeared to be between 1 and 2 years old based on his size, according to county sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh. "It's been a long night of wondering, 'Why?' — not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?" Singh said. Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test, he said. The suspect had a child's car seat in the back of his four-door pickup truck. The truck caught the attention of an elderly couple at 10:13 p.m. Saturday because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, Singh said. As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the toddler behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said. "What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking," Singh said. "They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn't have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it." A sheriff's helicopter responding to emergency calls from the area landed in a cow pasture at 10:19 p.m. carrying a Modesto police officer who shot the man to death after he refused an order to stop beating the child, Singh said. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the toddler, who was not breathing when they arrived. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No children within the dead boy's age range have been reported kidnapped or missing in Stanislaus County, Singh said. The incident happened on Bradbury Road about 10 miles west of Turlock, a city located about halfway between Sacramento and Fresno.</div> What a sick minded person does that to a baby? Wow. Glad the cop killed the bastard, and shame on the witnesses who just looked and never intervened. RIP little boy.
Wow, that's so unbelievably fucked up. And confusing. What was going through that guy's mind? Was that his kid? RIP, I feel realllllly bad for that little kid.
RIP little one...my prayers are with you. I can't beleive more people didn't stop to help....it makes me sick. I almost wish the guy wasn't shot to death, but went to prison! After the other inmates hear what that guy did he would've suffered and then died
What could that guy have possibly done, other than kill you, to get you off of him long enough to attack the kid further? I just cant imagine he would have been able to subdue me long enough to continue....anyone know if there were other men on the scene that let it continue?

Maybe he coulda just takled the guy
*waits for the ACLU to step in and demand that the cop be thrown in jail* Good for him. That is what I call justice. A damn shame for the baby, though.

I am too lazy to read these posts, but are you guys questioning the cop's action? ACLU Lovers!!! The cop acted appropriately, I think he should be given an award, a raise, and a promotion, plus an extra week of vacation.
I totally support a law enforcement officers right to use appropriate force to protect himself and other citizens....If he deemed it necessary to drop the guy, I support that....

I'm not saying the shouldn't have been shot, I'm just saying I wish he didn't since he would've suffered far worse in prison with what the other imates would do to him. Why does everyone want to debate on the site??.....lol. So much hostility....lol

The part of the article that says the witnesses tried to intervene just doesn't make sense. I might have gotten my butt kicked, but he would have had to spend some real time and energy dealing with me. God help him if I could get my hands on a weapon and since I wear a belt, there's one. I just don't see how "they" couldn't help unless it was a seniors group.

Case in point...I commented that I'm not saying the guy shouldn't have gotten shot to death, but rather put in jail so that the inmates would hear what he did and he would suffer more. but as soon as I posted it, it like it was pin-pointed to the just when I said he shouldn't have been shot dead. with responses saying that he needed to die, he deserved to die.....like I was saying he doesn't derserve punishment. Hell, I want him to die as well....but suffer first.....lol but going back to Beefy's other comment. I agree that no one did anything before the police stopped him?....welll they tried to stop him, but couldn't. This was one guy beating a toddler and your saying you had nothing to get this guy off with? Hell, hit him with a tire-iron or something...damn....lol. Beat his ass Craig...Beat his ass!!!!
