Tired of people comparing every tall shooting Euro to Dirk Nowitzki All these euro shooters turn out to be busts; huge list... And this dude is a bust for sure no speed, no explosiveness, cant dribble, cant play d wow makes shots here and there in euro league big deal if Joe Alexander on the board and Nets pass on him for this bust ima flip
Ah, you're serious. Let's say that Gallinari isn't the next Dirk. He's still compared favorably to, say, Bargnani.
i wouldnt mind danilo on the nets if he can make open shots! hehe i didnt kno we were like 13 million under the cap this supper... we actually have money to spend elton brand?!!?

Yes, he's a small forward, point forward to be exact. He's not a sweet shooting big man. He's not very quick laterally. Neither is Nowitzki. He's not ultra athletic, but he's explosive enough. By the way, did you say that he can't dribble? Did you watch at least ONE video of him before you made this post? Also, Tskitishvili is widely considered to be the absolute worst case scenario for a foreign big man. Gallinari speaks fluent English, is much better scouted than Tskitishvili and he is not a big man.
I don't know why people even respond to this garbage. Carter15Nets always makes pointless asinine threads to rile people up, get a life.
Hes overall probably just as good as a foreign prospect as Yi was last year. Probably not as athletic but more skilled.
Oh hey Carter15Nets, how have things been with you? Are you done with school yet? Any plans for the summer?

Just a few points: 1. A top flight lottery pick is trying to manipulate the draft so he can play with the NETS...and people here are criticizing him for all manner of things?! HE WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE NETS. The teams picking at #3, #5 and #7 all had to wait for the Nets to take a look at him and none of them even got as limited look as he gave the Nets. 2. Nikoloz Tskitishvili averaged less than two points a game for his Italian League team...barely played. He was drafted based on his play in the FIBA youth tournaments and his workouts...not his performance. Gallinari averaged 17.5 ppg in the Italian League and was voted the Rising Star in the continent-wide Euroleague. He is the best young player in Europe. Lets repeat that: the best young player in Europe wants to play with the Nets. 3. Go back to that video and watch the move he makes at about 1:00 in. It's frightening. The ball seems to find the basket when it's in his hands. The problem, I guess, is that he's not (that) athletic. Nor was Larry Bird or Magic Johnson for that matter. They were basketball players, not great athletes.

Teams want to take a look at him, big deal. They should, that's their job. It'd be nice if he had the balls to go against other prospects. 2. Agreed, Skita is a dumb comparison. 3. Frightening? That weak, high dribble with low elevation will NOT work in the NBA. Magic Johnson wasn't athletic? Ooookay.

What drivel. You've never seen him play but you hate him because he's a European (and WHITE too). Does it matter one iota that you criticize him? to anyone? You ignore the fact that four teams above #10 want him. Balls? It's not about macho. It's about money...a good lesson for you. Gallinari understands that being in the marketing and media capital of the world will result in him making more money. Balls? Pure immature silliness. Balls? It's about being SMART. You find me a 6'10" 19 year old in this draft that could make the move...other than POSSIBLY Beasley. There is NO ONE. Magic Johnson was no more athletic than Bird, but Magic Johnson was black and thus has to be considered more athletic. As Harvey Araton wrote in his book, fans adore athletes and downgrade basketball players. Don't try to fool anyone: so much of this is about race. If he's white and a European, he must be soft, can't be an athlete.

Hey can we get over this whole your not a good pick because your not the best athlete available idea. Or should we get into the 100's of "best athletes in the draft" who have been complete busts. I'm content just waiting to see who we pick but judging from our picks the last few years, i'll be happy picking players who are polished and know how to play.
I like Gallanari, but I'm still concerned on how he'd fare against NBA players. And, didn't you say NI that any comparison to "Dirk-like" is a killer to the player? needless to say, I'm all for drafting him at this point. The people complaining about him were the same people who complained that Nenad sucked when we drafted him, then were all over his jock as he got better, and then hated him again because of his injury.
umm in this article it says: http://nbadraft.net/2008stateofthecapnewjersey001.asp "As I said before, New Jersey obtained some expiring contracts for Kidd which will save them about $6.4 million this summer. If you include the expiring deals of Jamaal Magloire and Bostjan Nachbar, it adds up to nearly $13 million in savings. The Nets will need that cap space if they expect to add some free-agent talent this summer." thats were i got it... 2008/09 Estimated NBA Salary Cap: $58 million (estimate) Roughly: $6.3 million under cap hmm maybe i read it wrong hahah nevermind... its 13 mill in savings hehe well 6.3mill is still solid... add a traded RJ thats almost 18 million in cap space BRAND!!!! its doable!
