But they also must find time to make decisions, and perhaps the most interesting call will come on James Posey. The key reserve is expected to exercise his option and forego the $ 3,462,480 he can take for next season. And the list of suitors should be lengthy. (How badly do the Lakers need a guy like this?) The Celts are hoping they can bring him back with a deal that not only takes care of Posey but allows the club the ability to make other needed moves. Danny Ainge wasn’t about to get deep into the matter, but it’s clear from speaking to sources around the league that the Celtics will have a tough call to make if Posey gets a great offer elsewhere. “I think we have to see how things play out,” the C’s director of basketball operations said. “But there’s no question he’s been great. I love Posey. He’s been huge for us. We wouldn’t have won without him.” Posey doesn’t lack support. “Posey’s very important to what we’re trying to do around here and what we’ve done, man,” Paul Pierce [stats] said. “He’s invaluable to me, and you could see it in these playoffs when I got into foul trouble. When I go out, he comes in and fills in so amazingly that I can sit out, and it doesn’t hurt us too bad. You don’t always see it with the numbers, but he brings a lot to the team. He’s so smart. He’s got a great basketball IQ. Then he has that great ability to knock down shots and play defense. “He’s huge for us. I mean, just look at the plays he makes for us at the end of the game, on both ends of the floor.” Posey was practically perfect in the title-clinching Game 6 win against the Lakers on Tuesday night, hitting all four of his shots - including three 3-pointers - and picking up three steals on the way to 11 points in 26 minutes. He also played a critical defensive role on Kobe Bryant. He’s done everything needed. Now the Celts need Posey to stay. Figure on Pierce to have a little talk with him at some point. “I think he likes us,” Pierce said with a smile. “I think he’ll want to stick around another year.”</div>
I'd really want Posey to stick around, too! Vital part of the team, hopefully we'll do our best to make him stay.
absolutely crucial that he sticks around. great glue guy and hit some HUGE 3's for the team in the finals.
No doubt in my mind that he'll stay. He loved the team, the players, the fans and you could see it in each game. He'll be signed for 3 to 4 years probably. Now I'm hoping we get a couple more veterans and go on Drive for 18.
I don't care what the stats say. He didn't miss a shot in the playoffs. I honestly can't remember one miss.

I honestly can't remember one miss.</div> The scary thing is, I'm not even worried about his offense, or his statistics for that matter, but what he does on the floor cannot be meassured in any kind of stats. He brings positive energy, hustle and leadership with his play.
