<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Looks like the UFC had originally explored the possibility of a Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva match up for UFC 88, but Silva has requested some time off until December.

"Here in Vegas the good things keep coming to me… I had already been sound out about my next bout. To begin with, I just want to fight again on December, because it will be the biggest event of the year and until there I will be ready again”, said Wanderlei via his personal blog.

The UFC is pushing for Silva to be ready for their October pay-per-view however, and is offering Silva a match up with either Thiago Silva or Lyoto Machida, with Thiago Silva being the more likely of the two. Look for that match up to occur possibly as soon as the October PPV.

The UFC is having a difficult time finding an opponent for undefeated rising superstar Lyoto Machida. Dave Meltzer is reporting that Machida is viewed as a difficult and often boring match up.</div>

Silva v. Silva Likely for October

I found the clip on Machida interesting. Personally, I'm not a fan of his style, however, I know he's a great fighter. I wonder who would step up and fight him/

Geez I dunno why people say Machida is boring. I really like watching him fight, hes always looking for openings and has really nice fakes.

Because you have good taste. Let's face it, the majority of MMA "fans" are casual and they wanna see strikers go at it (Griffin Bonner always comes to mind)

Machida may be technical (or "boring" as some say) but dude is gonna be tough.

I'm just hella glad Wand got that huge victory last fight. He destroyed Keith in a way where only Wand could. He NEEDED a victory like that to prove to himself that he still has it.

Silva vs. Silva should be hella good, I can't ****ing wait.

Also, FYI....Anderson Silva said he's going to move up to 205, can you ****ing IMAGINE THAT?! Man, Anderson has to be P4P the best right now....Fedor can't hold that title after being idle for so long. 205 is gonna be STACKED!

Thiago Silva needs to test himself against top competition and Wandy is just that.

I am a huge fan of Thiago and I think he can be a force in the LHW division, he just needs to make the same leap that Machida has in his last two fights.

Thiago Silva is probably the real deal....one way to find out...he has to get through Wand. I'm a huge Wand guy, so I rather Wand make a comeback then Thiago make the leap.

Thiago's only 26, Wand's 33....Wand NEEDS this win badly, more so than Thiago. I think Wanderlei is finally back to his old self.

Let's face it, Wand's last 3 losses were to Crocop, Hendo, and Chuck. It's not like any of his losses were to a scrub, that's a hell of a list right there.

He has too much heart to quit, so I know he'll be training his ass off for this fight.

Silva is already fighting at 205 vs James Irvin on the Spike TV fight night 14 on July 19.

Brandon Vera is also making his debut!!
    so it's REALLY STACKED!!

Silva is also going to move back down to 185 to defend his belt though [IMG]

tough call who to root for. Would like to see Wand go on a tear like he did in Pride. I don't think it will be a long one though as they don't feed top competitor's 2-3 can's for every 1 contender like Pride did for Wand, Fedor and a few other fighters.

Thiago is a beast and showed heart after getting clocked in his last bout. I think he's 2-3 fights away from being the #1 contender.
too bad it's so damn tough to win 2-3 in a row at LHW!

just to add more confirmation to this rumored bout, Dave Meltzer is reporting on it as well. Melterz has great sources so it's most likely going to happen.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>After turning down a potential proposed light heavyweight bout vs. Brandon Vera at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19, attention has turned to Wanderlei Silva’s next fight, which could take place in the fall.

According to the June 23 print edition of the Wrestling Observer, Silva’s likely next opponent is undefeated light heavyweight prospect Thiago Silva. The bout could take place in October despite the fact that Wanderlei Silva has reportedly asked not to be scheduled to fight again until December.

The Observer indicated that Wanderlei Silva was given a choice of facing either Thiago Silva or Lyoto Machida. A specific reason for while Thiago Silva is considered the more likely option than Machida was not given, although Dave Meltzer indicated that the UFC is having trouble finding willing opponents for Machida.

Silva returned to the UFC this past December following a nine-year stint in PRIDE. The fighter affectionately known as “The Axe Murderer” lost his re-debut at UFC 79, dropping a unanimous decision to Chuck Liddell. Silva bounced back with a win at UFC 84 in May, needing just 36 seconds to knock out Keith Jardine.

Thiago Silva is 4-0 since entering the UFC and holds notable wins over James Irvin, Tomasz Drwal, and Houston Alexander. He most recently fought at UFC 84 in May, where he submitted Antonio Mendes in the first round via punches.</div>

seems to be more likley than not.

wow, is all I can say. the UFC's LHW divison is the most perfect division in all of MMA. You got the vets like chuck, Rampage and Wand who can still bring it. Tons of up and comers and anyone can beat anyone on any given night! Almost every match up is worth watching.
