Exclusive: Advocaat Admits Arshavin Likely To Exit Zenit <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The 27 year-old is one of Europe’s hottest properties and was instrumental in Russia’s 3-1 Euro 2008 quarter-final win over the Netherlands on Saturday. Advocaat, a two-time Netherlands coach, knows that it will be hard to keep hold of the player amid interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. “Arshavin is interested in moving to a foreign country,” Advocaat told Goal.com. “If he gets the right opportunity I think he will go.” The former Netherlands, PSV Eindhoven, Rangers and South Korea boss knows better than most exactly what Arshavin can do. “He is a very opportunistic player, very based on himself," he added. "He’s a player that you don’t see for 50 minutes and then suddenly, he’s gone and can score a goal, Not a lot of players have that quality. “Sometimes you sit on the bench and think ‘I have to take him out’ but you don’t do that because you know that he can change and decide the game in a second.”</div>
Yeah, the commentators on ABC were talking about this earlier today. I'm not surprised to be honest with you.
Especially after his performance at the Euro 08, he'll be able to bank on it and get more than he would have gotten otherwise.
Even before actually. Newcastle United's old boss Sam Allardyce came close to signing Andrei Arshavin for pennies during the winter transfer window. When he was fired, the deal was dropped. Newcastle remains a shit club with shit management and shit ownership. Arshavin's price went up 20 million by May 2008, so I can't even imagine the price now.
Exactly, because I don't think they would've been able to retain him over the summer anyway. NUFC blows, sorry Toon fans!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MainEvent @ Jun 22 2008, 07:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>He's 27.......?</div> Yep, he's not even at his peak either.
I don't think so either. Spain or Italy might be more of a fit for him. Who knows, maybe even Bundesliga.
It might preclude Arsenal because Wenger likes to bring in young players that grow in his system. But Man City's got a shitload of money to spend and you can never rule out Chelsea with their rich, unpredictable Russian owner.
I agree in some part; I'd say Arshavin has about five to seven years thanks to his incredible conditioning and abilities.
