Apparently, the Nuggets rejected a trade that would have sent SF Tayshaun Prince and PG Chauncey Billups to Denver for SF Carmelo Anthony. The Nuggets countered offering Allen Iverson, and then a package built around Marcus Camby, but the Pistons were adamant: "We want Melo."

Um, Nuggets management, having seen the 76'ers' strike one and the Nuggets' strike two with respect to Iverson, no one is going to give you real players for Iverson at this point and be strike three. He's 33, so it's kind of too late to get him into a system that makes a little sense.

Nuggets: You made your bed and you chose to not change the bedding, and now you have to sleep in it.

Are the Nuggets high on powder? Finally some athletic defensive minded players, and they say no.

    Camby
    Martin
    Prince
    Iverson
    Billups

Prince and Billups....forget age, forget everything...they traded for Iverson because they wanted a championship.

I agree, this is getting ridiculous. [IMG]

I won't believe it until I see a link, or we find out that Lakerman is Stephen A. Smith or Marc Stein or something. [IMG]

Two good defenders won't make a pathetic defensive team all the sudden good on defense. Plus, it'd be very tough to win when you're two best players each run about 6' or so, with one of them being terribly undersized. This team wouldn't win with that trade, in fact, they might end up being worse.

Camby was DPOY - he is a great defender
    Martin is a good defender
    Prince is an excellent defender
    Iverson is a decent defender
    Billups is a great defender

I'm sure Karl wouldn't run the same system, or he would be (should be) fired. They would score 94ppg+, grab more rebounds, and defend well. This team is better than the Nuggets NOW.

^^^The thing that you are not considering is that you have to look at how those players will match up against the other squads in the west. Especially with a guy like Kmart he is going to be going against good and great pfs almost every night. Besides I disagree that Kmart is a good defender.

Also because Billups and AI make up an undersized backcourt they will get burned quite often on defense. Especially against a team like the Lakers. You can't have Prince guard Kobe because that would force either Billups or AI to guard Odom while the other took Fisher. Any team with a good 1 or 2 guard will destroy Denver if this trade was to go through.

Good for Denver. The Pistons need to do a better job offering much more if they want to end up with Melo.
