Since this card will be part of our S2 Pick'em league, I'll be updated the card here so ppl can keep up to date and research the fights.
Depending on how many fights they have and who is fighting I'll most likely stick with the televised card as the undercard will have us all scrambling and guess as to who in the hell the fighters are [IMG]

a rematch that is going to need no hype, these 2 guys do NOT like each other.. then again Nick Diaz can find a reason to hate anyone and piss them off.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Diaz vs. Noons rematch likely to take place on July 26 in Stockton, Calif.

The website GracieFighter.com has revealed that a planned welterweight title bout between Hayato Sakurai and Nick Diaz that had been scheduled for July 21 in Osaka, Japan during DREAM.5, has been canceled by EliteXC.

GracieFighter.com, a site owned and operated by Diaz’s trainer, Cesar Gracie, indicated that EliteXC made the decision to cancel the bout due to “contractual obligations.”

While no official announcement has been made, multiple sources have informed Five Ounces of Pain that rematch between Diaz and K.J. Noons for Noons’ EliteXC lightweight title is expected to be added to the promotion’s next primetime broadcast on CBS on July 26.

Sources have also indicated that plans to hold “Unfinished Business” in St. Louis have been scrapped and that the July 26 show is now likely to be held in at the Stockton Arena in Diaz’s hometown of Stockton, Calif.

According to an unnamed source, it’s considered likely that the event is being moved from St. Louis due to a concern that several major sporting events are already scheduled to take place in the city during a close proximity to the July 26 event.

One of the chief concerns in hosting the event in St. Louis is that there is a large Monster Truck rally that already has had tickets on-sale for an extended period of time. The belief is that due the concentration of events taking place around that same time period that ticket sales might suffer.

By moving the event to Stockton, EliteXC will be able to capitalize on the local drawing power of not only Diaz, but Jake Shields as well, who is scheduled to compete for the vacant EliteXC welterweight title vs. an unnamed opponent.</div>

Having the event in Stockton makes sense, though the West coast fans have been hit and miss for MMA recently.

Its a shame that this proposed show wasn't the first on CBS.

Noons/Diaz II, Lawler/Smith II, and Shields/Fickett are all barn-burner type fights.

Maybe Brett Rogers? The Kimbo/Rogers fight seems unlikely, and Kimbo will be on the shelf until the next television show, it seems.

some more news as this fight card is taking shape.

Diaz vs Noons II will not be happening it appears, but Diaz will be on the card. There are already 2 title fights on this card, so perhaps having a 3rd if they all go 5 rounds could have bogged the show down or had it run over the allotted 2 hours once again.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Nick Diaz and KJ Noons will not fight on July 26

Nick Diaz will not fight Elite XC Lightweight Champion KJ Noons on the next CBS show entitled “Unfinished Business,” which is slated for July 26.

The match up appeared to be all but guaranteed — Noons and Diaz were involved in a post-fight tussle at the “Return of the King” show earlier this month after Noons defended his 160-pound title against Yves Edwards. Diaz was invited in to the ring to discuss a rematch with Noons and the entire situation descended into chaos rather quickly.

Noons defeated Diaz via technical knockout (cuts) at Elite XC: “Renegade” back in November 2007. It was a decision that did not sit well with the volatile Diaz and the smack talk has escalated ever since.

Recent speculation has the July 26 CBS show headed for Stockton, Calif., which is where Diaz calls home. He’ll likely still compete on the card, considering it’s possibly in his backyard and his scheduled fight against Hayuto “Mach” Sakurai for the Dream welterweight title fight on July 21 (just five days prior to “Saturday Night Fights”) was recently scrapped because of contractual obligations with Pro Elite (the Elite XC parent company).</div>

also, it looks like Jake Sheilds has finally found an opponent to fight for the vacant Elite XC Welter Weight title... and Nick Thompson is no joke.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>EliteXC is starting to flesh out its upcoming July 26 fight card set to be the promotion’s second show on CBS Television. The event will now feature at least two title bouts as Jake Shields will finally get his opportunity to fight for the welterweight title against Nick “The Goat” Thompson as first reported by Dave Meltzer at Yahoo Sports.

The bout will serve as the co-main event along with the previously announced title fight pitting a rematch between Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith for the EliteXC middleweight title.

Thompson, who most recently competed in Japan for the Sengoku promotion, comes home to the United States for one of the biggest match-ups in his career.

Having just returned from defeating Chute Boxe fighter Michael Costa on June 8, Thompson was settling in to take some time off and prepare for the bar exam, but the chance to face a high profile opponent and do so on network television put his mind back on fighting.

“Those were the two biggest things. One was I wanted to fight (Jake) Shields, that’s been my number one choice for a fight for a long time. Jake and I are the No. 1 and No. 2 guys not in the UFC and I think we both wanted this fight,” said Thompson in an exclusive interview with MMAWeekly.com “And two, to fight on CBS for the title is a huge opportunity, exposure wise.”

The Minnesota Martial Arts Academy standout was the last Bodog Fight welterweight champion and now he will fight Shields for the new EliteXC 170-pound title as the first bout on his new six-fight deal with the promotion.

With his last two fights taking place in Japan, Thompson is looking forward to coming home, but says that he will still fight for Sengoku again in the future.

“It’s a perfect opportunity because EliteXC’s still going to let me fight in Japan, which I love, and I get to fight in front of a U.S. audience, which is more accessible to my fans, all three of them,” Thompson commented with a laugh.

While no venue has officially been announced, current speculation is that the show will take place in California, possibly in the Bay Area, to pull from California fighters such as Jake Shields and Scott Smith who are on the card.

On paper, the match-up between Shields and Thompson could be one of the most technical fights between two of the best all around fighters in the world at 170 pounds.</div>

this is going to be a pretty solid card IMO and will actually be better than the 1st one.

Looks like Nick Diaz will fight Thomas "Wildman" Denny on this card instead. It will be nice for him to fight in his hometown but I wonder if he regrets giving up a chance to fight for DREAM's title against Sakurai.

Yup it looks to be that way. Which is weird given the riot Diaz set off at the last Elite XC event with Noons, Noons father and the rest of his fight team
    http://sportstwo.com/forums/KJ-Noons-Nick-...bi-t117574.html

kinda killing the momentum with this perplexing fight.

and yeah Diaz must be pissed to lose out on a chance to fight Mach Sakurai for the Dream title.

not as much as the very good looking WEC 35 card that has 3 title fights!! There's a card that is being overlooked IMO.
and WEC 36 is looking sick with 2 title fights, Jens, Urijah, Paulo Fhilo vs Chael Sonnone II and now Jake Rosholt fighting on it too.

here's a little something to hype up the ladies fight on Saturday!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>'Cyborg' Santos Plans to Shock the World on CBS

Married to Pride Fighting Championships veteran Evangelista Santos (Pictures), Cristiane Santos has long been one of the most feared female fighters in Brazil. Based out of the Chute Boxe Academy, she has trained alongside many of the gym’s most accomplished stars, including former members Wanderlei Silva (Pictures) and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and current exports Fabricio Werdum (Pictures) and Luiz Azeredo (Pictures).

Santos will make her international debut against Shayna Baszler (Pictures) in EliteXC this Saturday in Stockton, Calif. The Brazilian recently spoke to Sherdog.com’s Gleidson Venga about the opportunity to fight live on CBS.

Sherdog.com: Cris, how do you feel on the last leg of training for this fight?
Santos: I’m well trained. I’m taking care of the aerobics part in order to lose weight. I’m prepared. I arrived here on July 4. I’ve gone two years without fighting, but I’ve taken part in some wrestling championships during this period to keep the adrenaline high, so I feel good.

Sherdog.com: Your fight will be the first on the CBS telecast, and a lot of people will be watching you. Are you anxious about your international debut?
Santos: I can hardly wait to see my opponent’s face at the weigh-in. When I am in the ring, I don’t think about people who are watching the fight; I just think about the fight. So if there will be a lot of people watching, it doesn’t bother me. I can hardly wait to get to the weigh-in and then fight.

Sherdog.com: You decided to travel to the United States early in order to adapt and feel like you were in the right place. How was training in America?
Santos: I’ve arrived here, [and I’m] already training, doing about four trainings a day. I’ve trained with the whole Chute Boxe team in Brazil, and I’ve arrived here to polish everything I have done. I’ve enjoyed my time training with master Rafael Cordeiro (Pictures).

Sherdog.com: How important is master Rafael Cordeiro (Pictures) to you heading into your fight with Shayna Baszler (Pictures)?
Santos: I started training muay Thai and MMA with him. He has always been my teacher, always by my side giving me support. So, at this time, when I’m about to show the world who I am, I should be by his side, as well. I miss [my husband], but I’m in a good company.

Sherdog.com: What have you found out about your opponent’s game? What do you expect out of this fight?
Santos: She knows how to fight on the ground. She does wrestling, but she doesn’t know a lot about muay Thai; she feels afraid when striking. I think she is going to try to take me down, but my knees are in very good shape. She will have to be alert. I train a lot in all the fields, but she probably thinks I don’t know anything about the ground. If I have to finish her, I will. If I have to knock her out, I will. Let’s go to war. I’m ready.

Sherdog.com: You’ve stayed away from fighting for two years. What was behind your absence from MMA?
Santos: It was really because of lacking opponents. Nobody wanted to fight against me. We had the fights arranged, but the girls wouldn’t show up. There was nobody for me to fight in Brazil. I would have fought in Canada, but the girl didn’t want to face me at all. So, I’ve started to participate on wrestling championships, because there were girls with the same weight as me, and I had to keep on fighting. I did four wrestling championship tournaments last year, but I kept on training and striking a lot, everyday in the Chute Boxe Academy.

Sherdog.com: Just a few Americans watched your previous fights. For those who have never seen you in action, what can you tell about your style and your characteristics?
Santos: I always look for fighting. I’m not afraid to take a punch because I take punches all day long in the gym. Fighting for me is happiness. It’s glorious to have this fight arranged, because I’m going to have the opportunity to show my work. I like muay Thai; this is my style. It’s also the Chute Boxe’s style. We have always been like that. I know jiu-jitsu, as well. I can finish anyone. I have an excellent wrestling. Of course, I always have a lot to learn from the gym, but I’m getting better and better.

Sherdog.com: About 10 days ago, your husband told me that you would shock the public with your style. Is that really what will happen?
Santos: They can be sure I’m going to strike all the time. I’m accustomed to fighting five-minute rounds. Now, with these three-minute rounds, the fight won’t be different. I’ve trained very hard. The American public can expect my show. They will like me a lot and enjoy my kind of work as well as everybody in Brazil does.</div>

    trains with Chute Box?!?! Yikes
