<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Two days ago, Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe thought they had a nice tidy list of five players for #10. Now, rather than compressing, it’s expanded to seven or eight. There are four definites–Rose, Beasley, Mayo and Love. Then certainty drops off as players like Jerryd Bayless and Brook Lopez go into free fall, possibly landing in NJ. And oh yeah, one more time: no trades on the horizon.</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Here's a surprise: The wild card, for that other lottery GM, is now Jerryd Bayless. "He's dropping," Anonymous Bob said. "He can go all the way to Jersey. If he gets past Seattle at 4 and the Clippers at 7, he can make it to 10."</div>

Shit, really? Jump on that! I wouldn't hesitate to take in Bayless. He'd be a great combo guard alongside Devin. Of course, that's assuming Westbrook isn't available...hell, I'd still have trouble passing on Bayless.

I like this excerpt, about Gallinari:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>As for Gallinari, Thorn says this about the kid: "He certainly can shoot and handle the ball," Thorn said. "He's played in good competition, and he certainly is a player who has played at a high level at a young age. He's not the most athletic kid around. . . .but he's the leading scorer on a pretty good team, and he's played a lot of minutes with men."

........ "He's on our list," Thorn said. "But again, it totally depends on who gets there. He's one of the guys. But right now, we're finding ourselves studying seven or eight guys."

    Cumbersome number.

It would seem to suggest that a guard cannot be ruled out, either.

"Definitely -- if it's the right one," Thorn said. "Or two, as the case may be."</div>

I wonder what this hints at - and who, in Thorn's mind, would take precedence out of all the players available at 10. I wanna know who's at the top of the list. Should we assume it'd be the big man, Brook? Or the slipping, but still very talented Bayless and Gordon? Or the defensive player that seems to fit in with what this team wants to create, in Westbrook? I doubt it's Alexander, though.

Sheesh, the suspense is killing me. I wish I could read minds.

I like this scout's take on Gallinari, though, and realized it to be very true:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Speaking of Gallinari, the sharpest Euro scout we know, Tim Shea, gave us his take on the kid yesterday:

"Danilo is going to be a pro like his father was - this young man is a hard-nosed, strong, and generous player," Shea e-mailed from Spain. "He plays all out and has room to improve. The question remains regarding his defensive abilities. He is well-schooled and skilled."

Shea's caveat: "The trick for many players' success or failure is the ability of coaches to put players in a situation to succeed. This applies to internationally-bred players in particular. The game they learn, the game they come from, is only 'similar' to the NBA game. The NBA coaches are put to the test by their ability to incorporate the international athlete's skills with the NBA style game. Not an easy task."</div>
I never really thought about this, when focusing on an international player coming to the NBA: we obviously saw with Zoran, we couldn't incorporate his skills for our team at all. That's starting to make me nervous about Gallinari - what if he turns into Zoran, pt II? What if we never got him to fit into the team, or the NBA? Thank god it's not my decision to draft him.

The problem with Zoran was our persistance of calling him a point guard when he was clearly a 2. The coaching staff loved the idea of a 6'7" pg and kept beating that drum no matter how much better he played when he got minutes at the 2 having the green light to score rather than trying to run an offense. Gallinari fits into the Nets scheme really well in alot of ways because of his passing, ball handling, and smarts. Those are three things alone would help make our offense thrive and would help take pressure off Devin and Vince from initiating everything and let them do what they do best, finish.

Unless someone steps up for Augustin or Randolph, only one--or, at most, two--of those players will be available when the Nets pick, so we'll get who we get. I think the Nets would be happy with Bayless, Westbrook, or DG. I suspect they'd be grumpy if Gordon or Alexander is the guy to fall to #10, and may try to then trade down. It sounds like they'd be very happy with Brook Lopez, too, although I'd prefer that if that happened, they'd trade down a few slots and take Rush, and then grab one of the remaining centers like Hibbert at #21.

Bottom line is that the so-called "choice" at #10 will essentially be non-existent. It'll likely be a choice of one.

I'm going with Westbrook and Bayless.
