So KJ Noons is the current Elite XC Lightweight champ. He originally fought Nick Diaz for the title to become the first ever EliteXC LW Champ. Noons was supposed to be a stepping stone for Diaz, as Diaz is the bigger name having just come from the UFC and having beat Takanori Gomi at Pride 33. Noons should have been an easy win for Nick, it didn't quite happen that way Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons - Watch more free videos So Nick Diaz, being the classy act that he is and having NEVER given the guy who beat him credit, decided to fire things up at the last EliteXC event in Hawaii as he was asked to go into the cage to hype up a rematch with Noons. LOL gotta love Elite XC and their wrasslin' approach to hyping a fight. I guess this is such a big thing, that EliteXC is going to save this fight for another CBS fight card as CBS appears to want more MMA given the ratings the first card did.
Looks like this fight isn't happening. http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2008/06/23/rep...ing-on-july-26/
QUOTE

MMA Mania is reporting that a rumored bout between Nick Diaz and K.J. Noons for the EliteXC lightweight title is not happening on the July 26 “Unfinished Business” card, which is rumored to take place in Stockton, California, Diaz’s hometown. Diaz is still expected to compete on the card but it’s not clear who he will face off against come July 26. Could EliteXC be saving this fight for another CBS card down the line? Too many titles on the line during one card? Stay tuned.

I know, I posted in the Elite XC thread. Too many title fights on the card if it does. However it could headline the next event on CBS.
Haha, they are trying so hard to be better than UFC. lol Will there be a time when we can see players from each faction fighting each other in big events? Like a UFC fighter fights a Elite XC fighter, and so on.

Dana is completely against cross promotional fights so much so that the UFC doesn't allow fighters to fight for other orgs like Elite XC and other orgs do. Hence the issue with signing Fedor who wanted to compete at least once a year in Russia in Sambo Tournaments, Dennis Kang wanting to compete and defend his title for a small Korean MMA org because he's part korean. The UFC wouldn't agree to let them fight elsewhere so they didn't sign with them. Also what benefit is it to the UFC to cross promote with any org in the U.S.? they're recognized as the brand of the sport like the NFL or NBA is for football and basketball and having their fighters fight in another org could only potentially cause a problem. If GSP or Anderson Silva go fight Elite XC's champs and win their fights.. well duh they're supposed to. But anything can happen in an MMA fight and if either one lost, it would only bolster Elite XC not the UFC. Imagine the Yankees playing a AAA team from mexico.. no biggie. Now supposed the AAA team beats the Yankees 9-2? Whoops. same idea here.
There are half a dozen that would get my interest, with always 1 UFC fighter. Then throw in Kimbo, Fedor, Arlovski, Diaz, Gomi, maybe Couture, maybe Tim Silvia. But yea, it wouldn't help the UFC to do them, just because it would give the other organizations credit and a share of the spotlight if there was an upset. Although if Zuffa did something like a champ vs. champ from say WEC vs. UFC. It wouldn't hurt as much.
