OMG I love that trade for Pacers, finally a trade too! I like all the deals the Pacers have made. They just need to solidify their frontcout and I think they'll be set.

So Brandon Rush and Jack to Indiana for Bayless...works out nicely. The Pacers get a good back-up PG and a very skilled SF who can bring some very good basketball to the Pacers. Also, Portland gets a new starting PG with a great future.

I kind of think Bayless was a better pick, but I do like Rush, so I can somewhat see it from the Pacers perspective. On the other hand, I think Bayless could be like Ben Gordon and drop 20 a night. So, um, that's good.

Good, that means the Nets have a 0% chance of drafting him.

The Pacers need a point guard, I donno how trading to the Blazers for what they'll receive will help the team.

The Pacers will have TJ Ford, isn't he a PG? I guess you can argue he tends to be a scorer more at times though. I never got to see Bayless play so I don't know too much about his game.

TJ Ford doesn't float your boat?

(He doesn't float mine either, but oh well).

Rush is good in the sense they really do need another perimeter defender. Jack's not bad for that either. Bayless... hard to figure how he'd play with Ford. And for that matter they don't have any intimidating frontcourt defenders for when guys blow past someone on the perimeter (which has and will continue to happen a lot with Ford and Dunleavy manning the backcourt).

At least the Nets didn't take Thompson or Robin Lopez.

If Bayless wasn't there, I'd feel pretty good right now.

Bayless joins growing Pacers' growing backcourt at No. 11
    Thursday, June 26, 2008 08:52 PM

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Indiana Pacers look to be stockpiling assets in their backcourt.

One day after reportedly acquiring point guard T.J. Ford from the Toronto Raptors, the Pacers selected explosive Arizona guard Jerryd Bayless with the 11th overall pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

Bayless, who has been compared to Gilbert Arenas, has much more athletic ability than the Washington Wizards' sharpshooter. But he will join a crowed Pacers' backcourt, which also includes Jamaal Tinsley.

ESPN reported Wednesday that Toronto will send Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic and its 17th overall selection in Thursday's draft to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal. The deal was consummated after the two sides negotiated for almost a week.

While that deal has yet to be confirmed, Indiana does know it will have the skilled Bayless, who was projected to go as high as No. 4 to the Seattle SuperSonics.

He certainly has that type of ability.

Bayless is a great athlete and a blur in the open floor who attacks the basket well but also can shoot it wherever and whenever he wants. He averaged 19.7 points in his lone collegiate season with the Wildcats.

In short, Bayless is an explosive player with a great future ahead of him as a go-to scorer, but he must polish his playmaking skills if he's going to play point guard.
